Franticly clicks the - karma button.
They're a company,they need to make money.
I'm sure there is some financial reason in which they will make money by delaying it.

My theory--
No one ever had any problems with the server crashing before, then with this new patch it all started, and coincidentally at the time of 1.3, 2142 became a hype. Now servers started crashing, and obviously a lot of people playing bf2 became very angry, and many of them are hoping that 2142 will be better, and return their love of the game. Thus forgetting about bf2. What if EA implemented the server crashing bug on purpose to make more money off 2142. I mean, if bf2 had less glitches *(primarily getting rid of the server crash bug)* there would be a lot less angry players out there, and maybe few of them would buy 2142, so Dice needed to make a way to ensure that the game was a success amongst the majority of the bf2 community. Then they miraculously come out with a new patch, promising fixes, beta test's and new map, but coincidentally this patch is delayed. At the same time that it is delayed, a 2142 beta is released amongst many users to raise the hype for that game, and take the heat off of the patch. So yeah, they fuck up patches on purpose...
thats my theory.. its probably wrong though, just felt like posting it.

Maybe ... they just found an error in the patch and are doing thier best to fix asap...considering that everyone cries like a baby that its EA/DICEs fault everytime thier computer crashes or hangs or when something goes wrong with past patches (and there are problems) but perhaps they just want to do this one as good as they can...
But, I also think its scam, its just a plan to take pressure off Microsoft for making crappy software and a horrible OS!

Pfft!!! Theyre Not Releasing The Patch!!!!!! Coz Theyre Too Damn Lazy, Just Making Up Dates To Make U Feel Comfy In Ure Little Couch
That makes no sense at all. If you buy a Toyota and it sucks balls, are you going to buy another Toyota? Only if you're stupid. The happier we are with their games, the more likely we are to buy their new games.tyme414 wrote:

They don't make money on the patches, so if they're delaying it, it's probably because it's not ready. I'm a programmer and can tell you that there are a thousand different things that can delay a new release of a product. Everytime they delay this, it's costing them a ton of money because they're paying their staff to keep working on it. So stop your bitching cuz you want your widdle patchy-watchy now. They'll get it out as soon as they can.
Judging from the number of ppl who preordered bf2142, yeschittydog wrote:

Yes, but do you see how much more you contribute to a thread by vocalising your thoughts instead of just using a stupid 'punish' button? Hmm?Sambuccashake wrote:

Good boy, use your words.
well i dont think they do it on purpose... they do as much as they can... but with only one guy left in the BF2 team (the rest is into the bf214233 and bad company bullshit) there is not much they can do at all
BF2 patches are being done by DICE Canada, 2142 is being done by DICE Sweden.Eboreus wrote:

I think the EA/DICE contract specifies some number of patches - they only have to do so many or the price goes up or something like that - so they're trying to stuff as much into 1.4 as they can. I'd bet good money that 1.4 will be the last or next-to-last BF2 patch we'll see.
If I'm wrong then DICE is a bunch of dorks. Any software house worth its weight in spam has some kind of source control system that'll show them what changed between releases. It would not speak well of them if they didn't know what was causing server crashes within a few days of the 1.3 release.
Someone took their serious pill today and can't see the non-serious post through their grumpy haze.chittydog wrote:

Oh and BTW Gamers will buy a game, even if they hate the company, just to see if it's better. $50.00 for a new game is a far stretch from $15,000 or higher for a new car.

I want a good patch rather than havin one that comes with half crappy updates.
Hell Starcraft had a update not long ago so did diablo 2, what makes you think they wont update this game?

prolly gonna have the 1.4 patch come just as 2142 comes out, and they gonna intentionaly make it crappy so you will "have" to buy 2142
EA did that with bfme (6 month late patch, due to all sorts of stupid reasons)

I think they delay/make bad patches to piss off the community, heh. They are rich enough to do it.

Fixed a typo.

why would they want to piss off the community, jeezus use your heads people they make bad patches, they are just bad at patching they dont mean to piss you off
i cannot believe you all, almost every thread is about blah, blah, blah, Ea/Dice fucked us over. If you hate the game so much, just stop playing, it makes things easier for us, the lovers. i dont understand how you can honestly think that Ea/Dice postpones patches to make us mad. what would they achieve by doing this??? do you think they do not want us playing their game? they make money off of ranked servers, and serevers won't stay up if noone plays. EA/ DIce are not evil corps. they are simply trying to enhance the game in the way they find fitting. if this makes you mad, then stop playing, or don't patch up...
I don't hate the game - I still play almost every day.
EA/DICE releasing a patch that causes clients and servers to crash on a regular basis then not quickly releaseing a fix for that is pretty damn annoying. It's been 3 months...

I would, but how can I when i can;t even play the game to begin with if I don't have the patch!?FesterTheMolester wrote:

My theory...
by the time of the first release date of the patch, DICE wasnt ready to release it (unfinished). So as not to look unprofessional, they got someone to "leak" the patch. By the patch being leaked, DICE had a valid reason to be able to delay the patch without it being their fault

you right but that doesn't change the fact that EA sucks and won't make any more money on me.PhantomNinja wrote:
