ok 2 questions. what is a normal core temp 4 an amd 3400+? and whats a cheap way i can make this temp go down to a good 40* or so? i think mine runs at like 45* to 50*
Get a better cooler, heatsink/fan combo. My p4 runs at 35 degrees c.doc. josh wrote:

ok any 1 els have any thing to add
Be sure you have good case ventilation. Then get a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro or Thermaltake Big Typhoon.
yes either get a better cooler or mod something that the cpu hsf fan is able to pull more cold air. i.e. try without a sidepanel, add fans/plasic air thingys so that the cpu can pull its air straight from outside the case (i'd draw something but i suck, so sorry: no pic) and make sure that the warm air is quickly exhausted. The Stillhouse Kid wrote:

or even better do both

to explain better what i mean look at my current set-up: linked so that it doesnt take forever to load. click me
i run without a side panel
the big hsf in the middle is a TT big typhoon, with a 80mm fan modded to the back side of it (hidden by the big typhoon obviously) increasing airflow across the fins of the heatsink.
the fan to the right of the big typhoon blows the hot air (from the cpu and power regulators) out and away.
the fan above the exhaust fan/above the big typhoon blows air inside over the ram which is just behind it/to the left of it and the power regulators which are at the top right and just below the 2 fans.
these changes (from fans in the standard holes as can be seen and 2 in the side panel) have dropped my cpu temps to 30°C under load @ 2.5 @ stock V from about 35° and to 42° under load @ 2.9 @ 1.65 (+0.3)V from about 57°. my room is currently at about 25°. also my power regulators are now at 45-50° down from 60° under massive power consumption (2 instances of prime 95 + 3dmark 06). ram temps are down by about 5-7° (kinda hard to measure accurately).
also my chipset and gfx-card temps are down a fair bit but that has to do with extra fan on the 1900xt

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
get watercooling thats the most effective thing there is.
to the dude who runs at 35 degrees, is that after 1 hour of a program like heavyload (using 100% cpu and ram ect), cause my cpu becomes 61 degrees during those tests

well not the MOST effective but the best option for good cooling. for a normal running system phasechange would be the most effectivea fly wrote:

I have a AMD 3700+ o/c'ed to 2.6ghz @1.5v, I run at 30c Idle, 40c is my peak on a bad day. Check out a gigabyte 3d rocket Here. Keep an eye on the airflow in your case, tuck anything that doesnt need to be hanging out behind the motherboard tray. Use round IDE cables..also correct application* of a good high quality silver based thermal paste can make a difference as well *( when I say good application I mean a thin layer because that is all it takes)
ok thx guys now i will be able to over clock it sum more lol. i have it from 2.4 GHz to 3.15GHz i went out and bought 3 more fnas 2 just reg fans and a new cpu heat sinc and fan. 1 fan is mounted on the top of my case blowing air down twards the ram and the other is blowing air in the direction of my graphics card. it now runs @ like 30*C idle iam going to oc it to maby 3.4GHz then ill stop. thx guys
I got the 3400+ overclocked, and I'm running at 48* right now. In the winter time, I run around 40*. This is with the stock heatsink and fan, but keep in mind I have mine overclocked. If anything, yours should be below mine.doc. josh wrote:

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
get a nice liquid cooling kit :3, and all your problems will be solved >_>
I have a 4400 64x2 that runs at °33c with stock fan and thermal pad in an Antec Sonata II case. There is a only 1 120mm fan in the casea ddn 1 120mm fan in the psu ... no front fan.
