How exactly do I tell if a card is compatible with my motherboard?  All I know is I have an agp slot =/

i.e. can i run a 6600GT 128 MB DDR3 AGP card???  I heard something about a 2.0 compliant motherboard, can i figure that out easily?

if your mb has an AGP slot, and AGP type video card will run on it, just look at what kind of slot the video card says it is (when browsing cards online) and you can tell

download cpu-z, go to the motherboard tab and it will tell you which apg mode is supported by the board

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

You should have a manual that came with your motherboard, that should tell you if it take AGP or Pci Express graphic card

Most AGP cards are backward compatible, for instance if you put  a 8X card in a 4X slot it will generally work just fine I've done it many times.  For a good vid card I would recommend at least 256MB mem, 128MB will work it just wont give you the better resolution or performance.

well i got this computer from a friend, and I know it has an AGP slot, but I don't know how to tell what AGP cards it's compatible with.  I know that I currently have the GeForce 5200 FX 128 mb AGP card, but that's about it.  Does DDR3 on a AGP card mean the mobo has to take a special AGP card or does the card handle that before it's plugged into the slot.  I will try the cpu-z thing, but i'm currently at work =/.
