I don't really like musicals. They are like pop music / action films. If I go to a theatre, I'll watch a dramatic play, where actors actually act and try to show emotin, feelings and state of mind of their characters, not just jumping around singing silly songs.
I'm surprised nobody went with Cats. That would be on top of my list, unfortunately it isn't going on anymore.

I don't like most of Andrew Lloyd Weber's work, it's all so redundant... Starlight Express?? A musical about trains?? What the hell...
His new piece, Lady in White (I think that's right) is a technical masterpiece however. There are no real set pieces, it's a projected digital images that interact with the performers. Crazy stuff.
I like more tradional dramas personally. Mostly because I'm a stage manager and can't read music...

Ok.. Ber, cars, music, habits and so on.... but this is just gay...
I used to hate musicals. Not because of the typical male bullshit dismissal of "That's gay I like football and NASCAR" but because I was a music snob. The reality is that some amazing music comes out of musicals. I don't know how anyone can watch The Producers and not have a blast, even if the comedy is a bit cheeseball at times, the way that composers link multiple songs by expounding on themes and using common chord progressions can be absolutely amazing, and The Producers does it well.
Though I still think Cats is horrible, and hearing any of the songs gives me an instant headache. Ditto for Grease.
If you're one of those guys who thinks dancing is for fags unless it's hip hop, and that musicals are "gay", you guys should check out the 1955 Guys and Dolls with Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra, or anything with Gene Kelly, or Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, ad infinitum, before you dismiss a complete artistic medium. It's OKAY to like something that some gay guys like, people.

I would definatly have to agree with elangbam. I acutally went to see the phantom of the opera on broadway a couple years ago. Great musical. Wait or south park the movie that was a musical haha.
