Prescott denies anti-Bush remark
John Prescott said the newspaper report was "inaccurate".
John Prescott has denied a report he said the Bush administration had been "crap" on the Middle East road map - the plan for peace in the region.
The Independent claimed the deputy prime minister made the remark during a private meeting on Tuesday with a number of Labour MPs.
It also said he called the US President a "cowboy with his Stetson on".
Mr Prescott said in a statement: "This is an inaccurate report of a private conversation and it is not my view."
It was claimed the remarks were made at talks with Muslim MPs and other Labour MPs who had constituencies representing large Muslim communities.
Government sources said that some MPs who had been present would publicly deny hearing the comments later on Thursday.
Trouble abrewing? I like the way they refer to the 'peace plan', which IIRC involved decimating Iraq without a proper post-war plan and supporting Israel unconditionally. Nice.
This is a further nail in Tony Blair's coffin - one of his staunchest allies caught with his pants down again.
