I also have seen this happen. I however, being the admin, kicked him. Although it was very funny to watch.

It also happened to me once. I 'only' got about 25 deaths, but I was like "WTF!" when I returned from eating. Never spawn on parachute-spawnpoints! Really!
We used to run experiments with this on our server. We would see if we could die from the guy coming in. We were never able to get it to work. With regards to shooting them as they come in: it is difficult. They don't hit in the same spot every time and they are moving very fast when they get near the ground.
In any event it is quite a fun spectacle.
