I am wondering how the 24 news networks get their lables like "liberal" "right wing"  etc.

For example, I work for a huge corporate business jet company ( NetJets ).  The flight operations center where I work at is one big room with four giant projection TV's on opposite ends.  One on each side is tuned to CNN and one to the weather channel.  After my first week of working there, I asked why it is always on CNN and not fox or MSNBC.  My boss looked at me with a big smile and said the TV's would self-destruct if it was changed to FOX and not CNN.

I understand our company fly the richest people in the world, and they are always coming in for tours and meetings, but why is a TV channel labeled like this?  It seems to me they are saying CNN is for rich liberals and FOX is for middle class Republicans.  If they just report the news, where did this come from?

Not knowing the answer myself, I dub this a conspiracy. It's either got something to do with secret clans, cults or aliens. Possibly some combination of the three.

Liberals rich, Republicans not?  Are you kidding me?  CNN has more news and less opinion (even if you feel the news is biased), hence it is favoured by business persons.

As far as the Labels "Liberal" or "Right Wing" it has to do with the perceived slant that the stations employees put on the news generally favoring one side over the next. However, most, not all but most, of this is over dramatized, I think.

You mean the Communist News Network. . . .

CNN is totally pro left, are you kidding me, that would be the lefts safety network! Wolf Blitzer, you have GOT TO BE joking!! That guy must walk in circles he is so left!!!

And YES FOX news has a more conservative slant, but its no worse than MSNBC!!

Either way, all the news we watch is filtered, if the REAL news went out to the public on a daily basis, everybody would be freaking out constantly!!!

FOX News is not a 'news' channel it's an 'opinion' channel. Their political agenda pervades every item they carry, right down to the 'Terror Alert: High' and the little fluttering US flag. CNN is edited for Europe to be more 'news' oriented but I believe it's just as bad as FOX in the opposite direction when presented to US viewers. I don't know what the story is in the USA but here in Europe we have broadcasting laws stating that if one 'opinion' is to be presented on any program whatsoever the opposing viewpoint must also be presented alongside that. This introduces balance to reporting/editorials. If I had my way I would have a commission enforce a law requiring news channels to smack a 'NEWS' or 'OPINION' subtitle in massive white letters at the top of the screen at all times on news channels. On the likes of FOX and CNN USA there appears to be a very thin line between News Anchor and News Commentator. Slack laws are propelling news channels to become virulently propagandatastic as each channel bids to outdo the other spouting their respective takes on 'the news'.

I didn't say which was more biased, but CNN has more programs which are (officially) unbiased news, as opposed to biased opinion programs (which is to say, CNN has more programs which are, in theory, non-biased, whereas FOX has more programs which are, in theory, biased).
