first of all, what the hell is AMD cool and quiet? i heard it was bad (heating issues?) and i'm wondering if i have it on and how i can get rid of it.  And also i was wondering what a good temp for an AMD 4600 + X2 processor is.  I idle around 38 C which isnt terrible ( i dont think? ) but i've been looking at screenshots of the "AI booster" program online and it looks like most processors are down at like 29 C. Right now i'm just running the stock cooling.

anyways, what temp is a good temp for processors to run at?

downclocks your cpu so it uses less energy thus producing less heat, overclockers turn it off

You wont fry your AMD (s939) before 75 or something, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Cool 'n Quiet manages the power input to the CPU. So when the CPU isn't under heavy load, the fan will run slower -> quieter and the processor will use less of it's resources (so it downclocks.. dammit). It saves power and fan/cpu life. When the core temperature goes up, your CPU fan starts spinning faster along with the voltage (a higher clock speed). If you're idling at 38C, thats IMHO OK, although I only have my Athlon 64 3200+ to compare with (idle @ 38-40)

What, CN-117? It downclocks? NOOOO!!!!! But the "performance-on-demand"-thing means that it sets the clock speed higher, when needed? (adding info to answer)

i'm getting some crazy stuff on this ai booster like 8388 mhz for my cpu speed and 2000 something for my fsb (i'm guessing front side bus) is that an error or what? 8.3 ghz?? wth?

lol its not overclocked at all. it'll just randomly go up really high. its usually is around 2.4 ghz then goes to 4.6 ghz when i start a game or something
