I think they are proving their point quite well. Freedom of speech. Yes it is disrespectful and I disagree with it but remember, when in Austria freedom of speech doesn't extend to the holocaust (which is probably one of the points they are trying to get across). I honestly didn't care about the cartoons of Mohummad and co. that the Danish newspapers put out, but I'm not islamic...
Look at it this way, we publish something they find offensive. Now it's their turn to fire back.

Hey, it's a cartoon. Let them do whatever they want. I can tell you one thing, the Jews won't be lining up crying about the publication and they won't be talking about hunting down the cartoonists and killing them. They won't be burning Arabs in effigy.

I honestly could care less if they made fun of maybe Nazi Germany's invasion of Holland and how they fell, because that's basically an eye for an eye. To take a shot at not only jews, but Russians, Blacks and Gypsies and probably many other races as well is terrible.

Were any of the cartoonists Jews is my only question on the subject matter. Besides, I bet none of the cartoonists would think about making a Holocaust cartoon because of the anti-semitic allegations they'd face.

That's the thing. They were making fun of extremism, not the entire Muslim race, which if I may point out only makes up for a low percent of the muslim population. It's basically a twisted view on the muslim religion, and is not what most believe in. Making fun of the entire muslim race? That, even I'd get pissed at. So yes, if they made fun of the entire Jewish race, I'd claim anti-semitism as well.

I don't know if any of the cartoonists were jewish. If they were, this puts a better understanding on this. Feel free to find out and tell me, though, because it wouldn't make a difference and I'm not bothering to go look. Like I said, it'd put a better explanation on this all.
