Well the title pretty much syas it all, is there a way to run Windows home & Linux (Ubuntu) on the same pc at the same time in a wayt that I can switch between the two in a way similur to switching between programs using Alt + Tab in windows?

the pc i want to do it on specs:

1.3 ghz prossecor (intel )
256 mb ram
almost everything else is integrated in the motherboard.

and yes, it is a laptop...

You could use vmware and run the linux as a virtual machine, or vice-versa, but with only 256 MB memory it could be limiting you can barely run windows with 256 MB memory

Well, I've done something similar, where I have taken a part of my harddrive and put linux on it, I then boot from a CD (I dont have floppy drive in my PC) when I want to use Linux. All the files are on the PC, so I just need to boot from the CD and it'll run. This negates the need for a boot manager. Only real downside is that I cannot change the files on my windows installation while running linux as it's an NTFS filesystem.

However, if you want to run them BOTH at the SAME time on the SAME machine, you need to try the virtual machine... But I can't imagine you'd get that to run decently on your specs.
