Do BF2S have a Jalalabad "strategy"? It will probably be immensely popular at least for some time. It might be wise to decide beforehand how the map cycle should look with it. It's out tomorrow!

uh oh.....so the 1.4 patch is coming out tomorrow ? Or is it just the new map ?

We haven't talked about the "infantry only" option in 1.4 yet, but we will, once the patch is out.
Personally, I'd like to keep the setup as it is, with all vehicles. If I want infantry, I play CS Source...

yeah I prefer vehicles too, and if you want one map without vehicles, take a city map anyway, cause really, I don't want wake, fushe, Oilfields, ... 64 map without vehicles And if jalalabad is good, I guess it will be set in first place to replace karkand?

i would like to try out the infantry only concept.  this would certainly represent a new game play dynamic for BF2 and may make it a completely different game.  it would certainly make squad work much more important.  also, much friendlier to sniping which i know lots of people like to do.

IMO we should play around with it one of these evenings and see how the games go.  if everybody hates it we can trash it, but if we like it then maybe we can figure out a way to incorporate it into our gaming so as to have more variety.

either way, i can't wait for 1.4...no more crashes **crosses fingers**

With the current version of BF2cc you can't do this. But, here it comes;
One of my clan mates is head-something-something-programmer at BF2cc and they are currently finishing
a new, build from scratch, version. He asked me and some other clan mates what they would like to be improved so I'll bring it up to him (never actually tought of this captain-a, nice one ).

Oh, nice Will this be an 'official' public release? If yes, do you have a release date and some additional informations about this version (like a changelog)?

I agree that a one-night trial could be fun. The thing is, people will want to try out the new things in the patch. i would expect a lot of servers will be running heavy jalalabad rotations, and it would make sense to have it first map for a week or so.

Btw, I dont expect the patch to be out Tuesday, looks to me like the Friday announcement was withdrawn by EA (something was posted on the UK board, and then deleted.) Maybe im just a natural pessimist

Well, after the patch 1.4 first there's a release of a BF2cc-patch that updates the current version. After that there's the release of the "build-from-scratch" 2.0 version.
I don't have any changelogs ( please keep an eye on www.bf2cc.com ) but I do know the version áfter 1.4 is just an updated one to keep up with the 1.4 (inf.only etc.).
And the ver 2.0 is gonna be faster and have different/more settings to make..
I'm a noob at this point, but he mentioned something about not using deamon, server-sided host; only a logon, completely .NET build etc. And I'm asking him about looks this, views that and functions to implement .
But I'll ask more precise questions next time so I could inform you better.
(I even don't know if I'm allowed to tell this )

I was thinking about trying it out as well. Maybe just see if the guys like it, if they do, maybe we could do weekly thing or summit. I dont think its a good idea at all to get rid of the vehicles in the normal cycle tho.
