Vent hands down IMO
Same here, and what are you guys talking about poor sound quality with TS, the one I use is very clear. The only problem is if someone has a crap mic or are using suround+desktop mic, and that would cause problems with either app.Cactusfist wrote:

Vent = Expensive
Xfire = crappy laggy
Skype = WTH is this?
Ole VIOP = FREE have to be in Squad tho.
Cordless Phone = Very good and already paying for.
Dial Phone = Fingers get stuck in dialer
Pager = Takes to long to type.

Lol at you, Ventrilo is not expensive its 15 bucks a month for a 100 man high quality server, so even though TS is free thats why it is SHITTY!.imdead wrote:

if 15 bucks is to expensive then you don't even need to bother trying to communicate to others on this big thing called the internet
I have tried all of them and Skype beats them all hands down. It's sound quality is even better than your home phone. I am suprised more people dont use skype.
does Ventrilo cost money to use??? even if I didnt buy a vent server???

Ventrillo is better. Teamspeak only has a 29.5KB sound transfer, so if many people are in one specific channel and there all talking, your gonna hear alot of static and half of what anybody says will not be clearly understood.
It does not cost money if you have a friend or clan owner that owns the ventrilo already.

the problem with skpye unless its changed recently you cant have 20-30 users on it at the same time .

Well it looks like a tie, although I really didn't go and count every single vote and I thought a poll would be less acurate plus a poll on this subject is already done so I just thought I would make a topic and ask specific questions. So from what I've gathered so far from this thread:
Vent is easier to set up.
Vent has better voice quality.
Vent is better.
Teamspeak because BabySpinach doesn't want to hear men's voices.
TS causes high ping.
Everyone sucks.
Vent uses less bandwidth.
Someone hates TS.
TS>Vent.
TS=lag.
And well.....It goes back and forth so I won't keep the list going.

MY clan use TS very successfully. If you have a high ping to it, set up a more local server. I play BF2 + SF with TS running, ping of 15 - 25...
You could always stop being a pikey and get a better connection and update TS2's codecs... worked for me.
Vent is good, but the interface seems childlike and fragile... But vents voice quality is (by default) better.
TS requires a very good mic, and decent audio card/drivers.
Cant decide which one? Get both of them. The client software is free for both.

I'd say teamspeak because thats all I've ever used, and I'm very used to it. Although, I've been on Vent before, and it does have a better sound quality.
