Here are my PC stats before I begin:

Manufacturer: Supermicro (Motherboard) (PCIe 16x)
Processor:      Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz
Memory:        2GB RAM
Hard Drive:    453 GB Total (1x) 200GB; (1x) 250GB
*Video Card:  (Built-in) Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family
Monitor:          Plug and Play Monitor (IBM)
Sound Card:   Realtek AC97 Audio
Keyboard:      USB Standard Microsoft Keyboard
Mouse:           USB Logitech Mx518 Optical Gaming Mouse
Controller:      USB Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick
OS:                Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)

I just bought a new motherboard because I had problems with my last one (very long story).  It's obvious that BF2 won't run on the built-in chipset.  When I tried anyway, it would show the game's splash screen, then black screen, then back to my desktop.  When I checked the info on the V-card, it says it won't run BF2 or 1942, but will run BF 'Nam.

I was looking around for upgrades and something "within budget"... anything to get BF2 running.  I read the BF2 readme file, but I'm guessing it's somewhat outdated.

I came across this:

*ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X1900 (PCI-e) 256MB v-card.  Will it run BF2?

It's something within budget (full time college student), it's also a nice upgrade, but I have no idea if BF2 will work on this card.  I'm looking to spend at the max, $200 - $250.  Any input will greatly be appreciated.

Semper Fi,
Jesse "Chino"

ETA:  Spell check/clarifying info

Yes that will work...

Right now probably the greatest under $300 cards out there is the 7900GT, you can find them for about $270 and it will fun everything on high.

7600GT is a about $100 less but is still a nice card.

I would go with the 7900GT if you're willing to spend the money.

If you cant wait until winter and the Dx10-cards, i would also recommend a GF 7900GT.

Ehr, iam blind. Get a A64 CPU instead.

Thanks for the info.

Here's what I'm looking at.

Asus GeForce 7900GT  (PCI-E, 256MB, 450MHz Clock Speed) = $275

Good deal?  If so, I'll buy it today.
