Me and my friend have been trying to set up a LAN between his and my PC and it works fine, we can send files and I can pick up his Music Libary in ITunes. However we can seem to get a LAN working for BF2, let alone: Far Cry or Dawn Of War and Ventrilo doesn't what to work either any ideas would be accepted greatfully

Thanks

Pip

I only ask because I've never heard of a "workgroup" working for this kind of thing. I may be wrong but it may need to be an actual domain. I dunno...never set one up for that.

I think Ventrillo may need it's own static IP. Once again though, I haven't set one up on a lan, just a wan.

It works if you set it up right on both PCs. One as the host connecting to the internet through a fake connection and the other connecting to the internet through the host.

It works.

Setup Home or Small Office Network, thats the one, do it on both PCs and set it up like I said above.

The reason I said 'fake' internet connection is because you need to set the LAN port as how it connects to the rest of the computers on the network.

Do you have a switch or a router connecting you to the intrawebs?

I would set rules in your firewall to allow the traffic even though its turned off, it continues to protect to some degree. Check you are using a hub. If you are using a router with built in ADSL modem, it will have its own NAT and firewall and you may need to make rules for BF2. OPEN YOUR WEB BROUSER AND TYPE 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and see if it opens a log in box. If it does, you have a modem. Both of you I take it are using the same versions of BF2 and have all the filters turned off?

No router, no modem and BF2 is both running Patch 1.4 Beta2
