May be a stupid question....i've actually done it on older computers but....

I just got my new computer and the i forgot to tell them to partition the drive.....I now have a 250gig c: drive.

How do I repartition the drive?

I know you probably have to format? How?

I am running XP home.

Thanks in advance!

Is this your primary drive i.e where windows is installed onto?
If so you cant create partitions from windows using disk management, you have to format your PC and create extra partitions OR you can install partition magic - this software allows you to create partitions in windows environment.

As noted by Phobia, you will need a third party app like Partition Magic to make partitions on a system that already has Windows installed on it.  Or, as also noted, you can insert your XP CD and boot to it.  When you get to where it shows you the partition on the drive, delete and then make a new one, which will become the primary partition, specifying to use only the amount of the drive you want for the primary partition.  Once Windows is installed you can use the Windows disk management system to, from within Windows, to create additional partition(s) from the unused space.
