Platoon, Hamburger Hill, and Full Metal Jacket were more of political statements, I don't think they're made for sheer profit. Probably a lot of it was for profit, but again I really doubt 100 % of the reason behind it was for profit.

But you have a point, I'm pretty sure Spielburg didn't profit at all off of Schindler's List.

I guess it depends on your point of view. But it's not going to be like propaganda or anything, I'm sure, it's just going to reflect on the event, and the actors have some right to claim a little bit of profit.

which by the math should be around 1.7 million for the families...it did well today

although a side of me says lets move on. who care's if they give money. im sure alot of the families are jusy joyed about them making a movie about the brave men and women who served taht day. and giving respect. and helping people remeber again. but hey money is nice too!

but ya people in sudan are far worse off....

but those who are accidentally killed are accidentally killed,those of you who wish to VOLUNTEER to go to the services know that they could potentially go to a war zone know the responsibilities that go along with the nature of the beast,so why not compensate those unfortunate to have become victims of other peoples misguided beliefs and fanaticism's after all any of us could fall foul of these sudden atrocities.

Listening to the radio this morning, a guy called in who was a local city cop. He said that he had the honor of going with other police officers and firefighters to see a private screening of WTC. He described it as more of a tribute than anything. He stated that their was very little Hollywood, and it was very emotional. Just thought I'd add some input.

How fucking stupid do we as Americans get? The 9/11 victims have gotton more money then they know what to do with. Alot of the 9/11 victims abuse the money they got. Some of these people got millions. WTF, do they really need that much to survive? The victims seem to think that they are something special and deserve something. IMO they shouldn't of gotton a damn thing. My father died and left us to fend for our selves . We didn't get millions.

On top of all this when a soldier dies, his family doesn't get a thing.

One of my friends said, very shortly after 9/11. Hollywood is going to make a movie about this, I give it 3 years before they start writing the script. He was right.

Personally, I think it is too soon. Even as a tribute. And 10% sure it could add up to millions, I think the other 90% should go to building a memorial for everyone who has died during 9/11 and the soldiers who died avenging their senseless deaths.

My honest and real opion on this subject is this. Every day I look out the window of my apartment and I see the NYC skyline without the towers there to complete it. The towers were what made New York city look like a spectacular city, and there is still nothing up in there place. Now it's 2006 and we have a movie out about it but haven't even rebuilt from the attacks. So I think American's really need to get there prioties straight, I know the site is privatly own but it's still a fucking travisty that we are rebuilding other country's from bottom up and hollywood is quicker to the draw then our political system(because they do have alot of say in the building).

NYC skyline does look empty without it. I was lucky enough to have visited New York before 9/11 and they were spectacular. I returned post 9-11 and NYC has definitely lost its spark - to me those buildings symbolised the spirit of that city (I preferred them to SOL and Empire State).
