they don't need any grounds, it's their game. if they [i]do/[i] delete your account, I dare you to press charges and sue them. It'd make headline news and I'd love to see you explain to the Judge what the difference between the G36E and the G36C is.
Sure it'd make headline news.  Just like when movie- and music-sharers get taken to court makes the news.  What you're doing is pretty much akin to what p2p movie sharers do - getting something you haven't paid for and artificially increasing the price everyone else pays.

And explaining the difference between at G36E and C is simple - one's for spec forces, one's for medics..

Hold your horses, no one's stealing a thing.  Those unlocks were released by EA free of charge with the 1.12 patch to everyone with BF2.

AFAIK, there is absolutely no rule against allowing someone else to play your account... if so, I believe a couple of the high-ranking players would have had their stats wiped by now, because for at least a couple of them it's well known that several people play the one account (which is why they're near the top of the list for global score).

There certainly isn't a rule against going to a friend's house, and playing your account on their PC.

Finally, there's a very easy way for EA to prevent such a thing.  When you start up the server, report the version, whether it's BF2 1.12, or BF2:SF 1.12...   if it's not SF, then you can't select SF unlocks, whether you have them unlocked on the account or not.

And so basically the people whining here are complaining because SF gives an advantage in BF2, and people are using non-standard, but otherwise legal methods to get the same advantage in the original game, which they bought, same as you?  So... you're mad because you're not allowed to pwnzorz them with your uber leetness you bought off a shelf?  C'mon... it really is the shaft for people who don't have, or don't want to buy SF  (which I have, so don't tell me I'm cheap, or watever other flame may come my why to that effect).

Holy crap, if you want the game for free go to your local EBGames and buy the copy, take it home, and install it.  Then take the damn box back and say it was defective.  The game doesn't run off the CD.  So now instead of just having the guns you get all the other neat shit too.  How's that for being cheap?

That's pretty cheap, and a great idea... at least until they test it and say "hey look the cd works sir", so you say "well it didn't work on my computer noob" so they say "oh that's weird, well here's another copy with a brand new cd" so you say "omg, like, I just want my money back ok noob" and they finally say "no returns on open games, and only exchanges if they cd don't work". Then you walk out $30 bucks poorer, when you could've just had a friend play on your account for 10 seconds and gotten it for free. (Btw, when I say "you" I don't mean you, I mean the universal you referring to anyone who goes thru this scenario. I mean no offense of course)

No offense taken.  I actually own the game.  I was having some troubles installing it and installed a copy on my friends computer before taking the cd back to get a new copy to try again on my computer.  He ended up with a free copy of SF, just no CD.  And I think they do give a full refund if you have the receipt.

Sweet, yea I've tried this before and that's basically what they told me so if you get a cool cashier maybe you can do stuff like that. Might as well try it out right, worst that can happen is I get SF for 30 bucks.

You might get the unlocks..but when you get home they won't work on your machine..as the game and the files that make the guns viewable and useable are not installed on your machine..only your friends.
If that worked..explain to me how your machine can access your hard drive for file and information relating to SF guns..when nothing has been installed on your machine..only your friends.  NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!

DAMN IT JeeSqwat, i was just about to post the EXACT same thing.  Thanks for putting it out there though.

Also, if you patched to 1.12 without buying Special Forces, than you can have the unlocks and pick up the dropped kits in the core BF2.  Thats one of the big contents of the patch.

Doesn't work anyways.  Every retailer with half a brain (at least in my town) will only exchange a 'defective' product for another copy of the same product.  Once the plastic-wrap is off, your sale is final.

I know everyone is in a different financial situation, but if $30 is THIS big of deal, should you really be spending your money on computer games to begin with?  I drop $30 every other week into Starbucks (so tasty).

best argument I've heard so far.

Besides, the new weapons from SF aren't the uber leet weapons anyway. Just like the classic BF2 unlocks, they are simply minor variations of the standard guns. If you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn before, those new unlocks won't make it any better..

hmm... aren't you suppose to play with your friend's account to unlock the weapons (And if so, then it is illegal.)? How can you unlock weapons for someone else if you are using your own account? And isn't it impossible for two or more to play at the same time with single CD-Key? And what JeeSqwat just said.

aawww heck... what do I know. Interesting though. Can someone try it and report back? I do have the expanssion pack, but would be interesting to know.

HOLD ON A SEC HERE,

Are you guys saying that once you install SF you don't need the CD anymore and can continue to use BF2 disk 1 to play? Does SF come with a unique CD key?

This makes sence if you only want to play BF2 maps... But you still get the special forces unlocks...

I'm assuming that you need to have BF2:SF cd in your drive to play all the SF:maps.

Questions:
Do you need the SF disk in your drive to play with SF weapons in BF2 maps? Y or N

Which CD do you need in the drive to play SF maps? does it matter

Does SF come with a unique CD key?

I just sounds like EA has opened themselves up for piracy or people wanting to use SF weapon (friends computer then not owning) could get banned or account reset? <--(This is the important issue to me)

The disk is only 25 bucks at amazon and fry's had it for about the same ($25 weekend specials). So when I can get over on a weekend buy it but I wouldn't mind aplaying on a friends machine who already has it.

For people that think this doesn't work probably haven't tried it.

It works,, let someone with SF play with your account on a ranked server, let him wait untill he can choose some unlocks (you can click choose later so you can choose them yourself).

And so you will have the SF unlocks without having SF.

I've got SF, but some people don't want SF because they are to addicted to BF2, or don't like the gameplay.

And some have SF under the christmastree so they have to wait while it is already in their home.

+ people are comparing this expansion with the expansions of BF42 and are waiting to see if it is going to be the same deal.
