originally, yeah - but they actually had such a high demand for it that they started producing more of those absurd bikes.
But back to the OP, if you said 10 years ago to the average person that 2GB of RAM wouldn't be rare in some systems, most people would have laughed at you. Hard drives were barely more than that, and if you would have talked about the 3.8GHz core clock processors that are out, people with their 100MHz machines would have laughed at you.
