No badges while commander?

w00t my first thread

I think everyone knows that IAR kills can be obtained by artillery while playing commander in vanilla BF2.
But could it be that you won´t get any badges while playing commander in SF?
I´ve been playing today on two different servers. The first round I got my flashbang badge and some time kater I decided to apply for the open commaner post. As there were only 10 plaers in my team I decided to fight along with my men and killed more than 20 people in the assault role but no badges at all.
The second round I played SpecOp and played as a Squadleader this time. Again I killed more than 20 people and again no badges.

After a short break I joined another server and played Assault and SpecOp as a mere Squadmember and got my Basic badges after a while.
Then a few rounds later I applied for the commander post again as Supply and killed 13 people and again no badge.

Anyone else who noticed this?

I have only one tiny question.
What in the holy cow dump is "Vanilla BF2"?
Is that a mod or something?
Or is it just another phrase for the regular BF2 *no sf*?

EDIT :

Btw you CANT get SF badges in the normal BF2. Just to point that out.

... you can get badges as commander and arti counts in BF2:SF.. it's been done, and today I got 5 kit badges in the same round as commander.

And wtf is 'vanilla bf2' ... seriously why is everyone calling it that, it sounds pretty gay.

1. vanilla BF2 = plain BF2
Don´t know why but somehow I like that phrase

2. I forgot to mention that I was playing SF (yes, patched to 1.12 before someone asks).

But seems that in the whole internet I managed to get the only two servers that screw up...

Well, considering he was going for the basic badges (and got them later), it doesn't matter, no time req. for them. And yeah, role doesn't matter, I got all the SF basics, and vet for the 5 kits in which I had 16+ hours, and I think for most if not all of them I was a squad leader. You just got a bum server.

Same thing happened to me today. Got 14 sniper kills while being commander on Iron Gator. Got a gold medal, but no chocolate (I mean SF) sniper badge. The gold showed up, but the sniper badge wasn't awarded in game or in BFHQ. I don't see what the server could have to do with it.

if the badge shows up in the game but u dont get it in the BFHQ, then the server wasnt ranked.

Well no, he said he got the Gold Star, but not the Sniper Specialist Badge. He never said he got the badge in game, then not in BFHQ.

Further... just because the badge/stats don't get all the way to BFHQ doesn't automatically mean it was an unranked server. Plenty of ranked servers are flubbed, and even more decent servers drop a round every now and then. Of course, in the cases of both people that have posted about problems, the case was never about seeing the badge in-game, then not in BFHQ, but was about not seing the badge at any time, even though under pre-1.12 rules you'd get them.

So, yeah... it sounds at this point that CO spot may have been excluded from being awarded certain badges (obviously not all... as some require being CO, hehe). Unless of course it's some new bug that is causing kills to not be properly registered while CO.

i dunno what the deal is, a few nights ago got my rank up, played on a few servers everything was fine, looked in my BFHQ everything is still pretty much the same, join a server today and i was a sergent, so im like "wtf!" im thinkin if i disconnect and then reconnect it'll fix it, but it doesnt, so oh well. i then start playing for a bit as a medic, and in a few minutes ive gotten my basic first aid and medic combat badge for sf, but that doesnt make sense because i had recieved them a few nights ago. can someone explain that plz?
