How to add a fan?

I have a M7277c HP Pent D comp.

Its in a office like setup and if i close the door and leave it on for a long period of time in the compartment seems to get very hot, and i would like to keep the door closed. I looked at fans and they look pretty cheap

But the problem is THERES NO MORE ROOM?

ExtremeTech gave that one a poor rating due to the facts that it kept rolling backwards and also the packaging it came in was not very cool.

They gave this one a much higher rating.

Yeah uh no.

Theres alot of work to that bud. and i have build in usb and al the ports (its a media center) so thats out of the question

well look, guy - if all your fan slots are full, and all your CD slots are full - what are you expecting to happen? Short of a case mod (ie cutting a hole in the side with tinsnips or some other equally rudimentary device) a new case IS your option for adding more fans.

The other option is to replace your existing fans with better fans with a higher CFM - but that is usually accompanied my more noise.

EDIT - you could get a pci slot fan. Inefficient, loud, but a fan nonetheless

well, i guess i could take some cutters and cut a square in the side that isnt showing in that picture.

But how do you/what do you connect to power the fan?

that wasn't really a serious suggestion. You have to get proper screw hole sizes too to then fit the 80/92/120mm fan size. Or just use double sided tape. Please don't do that. Or if you do, just don't tell me. It gives me the willies ... so ... <shudder>.

Power is the least of your worries. Either connect it to an open fan port on your mobo (those three pronged things that say CASE FAN, or CPU FAN, or AUX FAN ... you get the idea. Or, the fan will come with a molex adapter, which inevitably as a power input and output, so just put the fan inline with one of your other plugs like your CD drive for instance.

Don't cut your case ...

liquid cooling works great for me. i keep a bucket of ice water by my machine and just pour a little over the video card and processor when she gets a little hot. but, i have to keep the side of the box open so i can pour water quicker. maybe i need to try one of those room fans...

and if that fails, you can always stick your head in a microwave. I hear that does wonders to cure your problems - computers and otherwise.

1. you shouldnt have been lazy and bought a fulll system from dell they fill the cases with plastic crap
2. your going to have to return the heat sink and get a heat sink where the fan sit on top
3 your gonna leave your side case open cause of dells poor stock air flow

i think if he doesnt know how to set up a fan, water cooling out of the question.

Piggy back the new fan to a old one, should be able to plug the new connector into the back of the old connector, or the other way around.
