Go for number 2 i have one and its awesome loads of room in it, plus i just unscrewed the green/purple thing and used the regular thumb screws for holding in the pci cards, plus the front has a funky glowy name badge, and it has a removeable hdd cage at the back and one at the front which has a fan attached to it, both hold 3 hdds too. Plenty of room but with all windowed cases ya gotta tidy your cables otherwise it looks a mess. Oh yeah and its got loads of room

If you are more concerned with efficiency than flash.

Just wondering but where do you put your PC tower - is it on top of your desk or down by your feet?  If the latter, I would suggest that you buy for performance/efficiency rather than looks.

Have you considered the Antec P180?  If I were building a new PC, this is what I'd be going for.  The seperate compartments for PSU and other stuff sound good, plus it gets extremely good write-ups on sound levels.

Actually, as much as I like my Thermaltake overall, the retention clips are COMPLETE shit.  I have an external USB and an external SATA port in two of the slots and if I want to plug anything in I have to reach inside the case and hold the clip while I do it.  Otherwise even the slightest pressure pops the clip and that shit drops right onto my video card. To make matters worse, the clips are so bulky that it's nearly impossible to get a screw into the port to make it secure.  The clips do work fine on cards though since there is tension from motherboard side to help secure it.

Most Thermaltake cases use them anymore:  Beware.  I wont buy another of their cases until they replace this ridiculous design:

Totally agree.  I actually managed to removed the clips from the slots with cards that don't fit into the mother, so i could screw them down.  A poor design.  There are lots of nice features in thermaltake cases, but some little things that spoil it.

I would highly recommend that you try and see the case 'in the flesh', as i almost got one that i liked, until i got to see it, it was a stupid plastic face plate, and i will always make certain i get a look, and feel of a case before i buy now.
IMO, go for a metal fronted case, look better, feel more solid. If though your going for a LAN system, weight is an issue.

There is debate about this. Lower is cooler but usually you are exposed to more dust.

mine is on the wall.  love it, hence the window case, not something i would have normally taken, as i don't really see it as being used in 90% of situations.  But this works great. Yeah its a gimmick, but it cost nothing really
But the door opens the wrong way.  D'oh, what an asshat.  Good job i hardly ever change the CD/dvd.  BF2 is in one of the draws constantly.  (will edit a pic in here later)

However i would never have noticed my Chip-set fan was bust if the window wasn't there.

If your going to be upgrading all the time, a nice custom case should see you through a few reincarnations of PC, get one you like, even if it is a bit more money. You will have to look at it a lot.
