666 - if it counts both hours that's fantastic!!!! I really hope that's true!!

btw great job on all this info (esp Jester) As an Aussie, we don't have SF released in it's retail form, so all this info is a great help for us!

I would like to see the F/A-22 Raptor and a silenced, bolt-action sniper rifle, and I really think it's bullshit that these weren't added in the SPECIAL FORCES FREAKING EXPANSION PACK! >( Buuut that's just me =P

In reply to hour requirements: Your old hours do count and carry over from BF2. I thought it would be 15 hrs like the original first but the file shows (57600 secs). 57600 divided by 60 secs = 960 mins or 16 hrs. It may just be that you actually do have 16 hrs for both of these and that your stats just haven't been updated yet on your stat page.

In reply to kill requirements IAR: It may be true that you received the badges 1 kill earlier for both. This is only what I can pick out from the file as being the number of kills it checks for. I know i received my assault after 7 actually and others have gotten it at 6 they stated. It may just be lag interfereing though so I'm gonna leave it as it is for now.

meh i aslo wanted a new sniper.. either PSG-1 as semi auto rifle for US... or a bolt action rifle for all. the arctic warfaremagnum (g22)... in 300.winmag that would be nice. as the m95 is not that usefull foe some sniper as the-m24 but then they got to use the crappy svd.. so ADD A NEW SNIPER RIFLE^^

here the G22 or also known as AWM

In reply to the service ribbons: BIG NEWS, Thanks for your post Lotus_Pod, you forced me to take another look and i was wrong. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys but someone has to break it to you.

The SERVICE MEDALS and the FACTION SERVICE RIBBONS are commented out and you CANNOT RECEIVE. This means that the following are the only awards available: badges (except for night vision) and the crew, heli, armor, and air (why?) service ribbons.

EA and DICE gave us a game without any more shinys!!!! (i'm upset)

I have updated the first post to make these corrections.

Regarding the Airborne Ribbon:
I personally think that EA FORGOT to comment it out.  Lets hope for a new map with planes in it.

By the way, thanks for all the info Jester

in the code, the program doesnt read comments, it helps the programmers understand what piece of code does...

In response to some questions about the Service Medals: Yes they do correspond to the award placeholders in your BF2:SF BFHQ but you cannot receive them at this time as they're commented out.

The fact that they do have placeholders though tells me that there's probably a patch/update coming in the future. Don't quote me on that though.

How about they make SF versions of the BF2 core maps, Wake at night would be fine as ground unit and it has choppers and jets, too

Basic SF Specialist Badges

Just received all the basic badges today, notice all 10 placeholders are taken up and there's no "secret/missing" badge.

Also, i've confirmed all the IAR requirements for these badges as being exactly what i posted so far. I counted each one. I will try for the silver badges maybe in a week or so as i meet the requirements for all of those as well.

Tip: I received 8 of the 10 badges in only a few hours of play. The easiest way is to play commander and use arty. The kills don't show up on your score but they DO count towards the requirements for whatever kit you're playing. I switched halfway through and always tried to get 2 badges in one round. Otherwise i would have a few silver vet badges by now.

I know what you mean, but still you do not have a picture of this, do you? I mean a picture taken exactlly the moment you receive the award, so we can see that it's SF you are playing and the award is from BF2.

What ever you did, it partially works, some of my SF badges are already shown and I'm not in an unlimited queue anymore. But not all SF badges are displayed and my score isn't up to date.

I also found a typing error or is it code based?, the requirements for the Veteran Spec Ops Combat Badge (the one for SF) says:
    *  IAR: 22 kills while Spec Ops
    * 16h Total time played while Spec-ops
    * Basic

Shouldn't that Basic be Basic Spec Ops Combat Badge?

I also saw, that you named the new SF badges exactly the same way as the BF2 badges, the new ones are not called COMBAT (Badge) SPECIALIST (Badge) except of the Tactical Support WEAPONRY.
Here is how they are all called in BFHQ (B/V/E = Basic/Veteran/Expert):

B/V/E Assault Specialist
B/V/E Anti-Tank Specialist
B/V/E Sniper Specialist
B/V/E Spec Ops Specialist
B/V/E Support Specialist
B/V/E Engineer Specialist
B/V/E Medic Specialist
B/V/E Tactical Support Weaponry
B/V/E Grappling Hook Specialist
B/V/E Zip Line Specialist

I'm a perfectionist and I only want to helo, if you do not feel like renaming them, then it's OK, I just wanted to mention it.

I got the name straight out of the game files. I guess they override them with something else.

I got my Veteran Assault Combat badge today.   22 Kills but there is no way I've played 16 Hours  in BF2 SF let alone as that class.

I got all badges, most of the are Veteran, and two ribbons. Some kind of Helo ribbon and crew specialist ribbon.

You have to understand that whether you play BF2 or BF2:SF the kits are exactly the same. The 16 hrs required is not for playing SF but for how long you've played as that kit, in your case the Assault kit. By your stats you've played the Assault kit for 118 hrs in total and you only need 16 hrs for that badge. You could even go for the Expert Assault Badge in SF if you wanted as the requirements for that are only 100 hrs and you have that already.

In reply to what commented out means: It's a programing term. Comments means exactly what the word says... it makes a comment (statement or note) about something. In this case, programmers put in comments into their code to help them read it at a later time. Kind of like little notes you leave yourself about what groceries you need to buy. They do this in this game by adding a # sign in front of something they want to comment. When something is commented out it means it has a # sign in front of it and so when the program runs it skips over this line. So basically, the programmers for BF2: SF wrote the code for these down but added the # sign in front of these lines so they don't actually run when you play the game; this means that since it is skipped you cannot actually get these badges/ribbons/medals at this time.
