We westerners are all looking in on A REGIONAL ISSUE. Iran wants to be the big cheese in the middle east not on the planet earth. I'm under no illusions that Iran wants Israel destroyed but then that would be representative of probably the majority of arabs, whether they're sunni or shia muslims. Iran are at ideological war for influence over the region with the great sunni power - Saudi Arabia. What all this has to do with us westerners is beyond me.
This hezbollah spat at the moment is a stroke of pure genius - completely drawing UN attention away from Iranian nuclear weapons ambitions. Israel better watch out - Iran aren't as stupid as they are made out to be. Especially given that a bunch of rag-tag guerrilla fighters hiding in olive groves are teaching them a lesson or two.

Cameron, they have declared economic war with the US of A. The Iranian Oil bourse... Oddly enough the other members of the "Axis of Evil" also tried/are trying to switch to trading oil for Euros instead of the US dollar. Oh, so did Venezuala who is looking like a prime candidate to be added to that list.

So just say were interested in Iran because of oil. If a country needs oil for it's economy to flourish it's worth fighting for. War's have been fought throughout the ages for resources, what makes you think we have evolved past that? If we need oil to stay strong until alternative fuel source can be developed in abundance. There are more countries than Iran in the world to go looking for oil in. I disagree with fighting for it because it's quite simply wrong. Hitler took over half of Europe for land and resources for the German Ubermensch - was that 'right'? No it wasn't - it was morally reprehensible at best. Iran still sell oil to whoever is buying it - why must the US (or anyone else) try and circumvent international law to gain direct control over their resources, just because they might be powerful enough to do so. Personally I think the Iran thing, from a US perspective, is less about oil and more about Israel - jewish influence in US politics to be exact. PLUS - the west is more than capable of coming up with alternatives to fossil fuels but energy policy appears to be dictated by the dollars that would need to be spent rather than the number of lives that could be preserved.

So the question is, appease them like in years past (which is a failed political ploy) OR threaten an attack while they still dont have the nukes to blow up Israel(they may have them already we dont know).
Because lets be honest, I and Im sure most of you dont want to live in a forced Islamic society!! We like our Mtv, and our IPODS and our sports teams etc. Letting these Islamic crazies gather steam and mobilize is a recipe for DISASTER!! We have ALREADY allowed them to go this far!! the article says it is the government who are responsible not the people, but if you look up democracy, the definition is rule of the people, so really it is the people who are responsible for the actions of the country unless they are saying that it is a dictatorship?
Also Iranian bombs have been found at roadsides in afgahnistan planted for british troops, they are also supply iraqi militia with weapons and helping out hezbolla.
