I don't listen to much radio, but from the listening I have done something has caught my ear. If you've tuned any pop station on in the past few months, you've surely heard the song "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic! at the Disco (it's grossly overplayed). Anyways, the lyrics in the chorus go something like "I chimed in with a 'haven't you people ever heard of closing the Goddamn door'." This may not be the case at all radio stations around the country, but all the stations I've heard so far censor out the word 'God', but not the word 'damn'. Wtf is that? Is it not OK to use the word 'god' in a song? I think it's retarded; what do you guys think?
I quit the radio long ago
FCC regs have come down hard sinse the " wardrobe malfunction " at the superbowl.
Public airwaves are kinda like public forums; you have as much free speech as the mass consciousness is comfortable with.
You can get on bf2s.com and espouse Nambla pedophile views, and a mod has the right to squash it because its not in the general publics best interest to accept that thinking as being right.
Kids tuning in to the stations in question should not be forced to hear profanity.
Its easy to make a sanitized version for the radio and keep the smut for the c.d.

That was the stupidest idea ever. OMG WHY DID YOU BAN ME? he never came back did he?ATG wrote:

Ah, you must live in the Bible Belt of the USA, right?
Most people here get very very irate and upset hearing the GD word.
But oddly enough, D doesn't have the same effect.
That might explain it.

Means something to a lot of people, but not me.Thou shall not take the Lords name in vain
Start Me Up by the Rolling Stone has a line " you make a dead man come " and Who are You by The Who has the line ": who the fuck are you" and it hasn't been censored. People have to complain before the FCC does anything.

That song is a piece of junk anyway.
*edit* on topic, it hasn't been edited in my area.
*2nd edit* its not really fair to compare the radio to these forums. Private property is not subject to the same regulations. The owner of this site, Chuyskywalker (a.k.a Jeff), would be well within his rights to kick every one of us off for any reason whatsoever. The radios are regulated by the FCC, which is heavily influenced by groups that want everything more provocative than a single mother removed from tv and radio.
I heard something about a christian family group that had a computerized system set up to automatically send in thousands of complaints about tv shows to the FCC. This is the article I found in 30 seconds with google.

No censorship at all on XM

All radio sucks. Gotta find stuff on itunes now, and parties play music like that way too much.
Isn't it the truth that its overplayed and not that Harlequin girls one. I mean, one person requests it and everyone is like ZOMG THEY'RE SO AWESOMEDonald O' Brien wrote:

Yes, but he's not likely to do that unless people complain about your post and report them. I should know, read my nutritional data.Skruples wrote:

Same as the FCC, they do not just troll for smut. People have to report it.
