I've got an ATI XTASY Raedon 9600 256MB AGP gfx card. I could probably run my settings on medium with some lag but I've never really tried. I only have 1 GB of RAM and I run my settings on all low except view distance at 100%. It runs great except when I haven't played for a while and I get on I always get a little bit of lag for about 1 round. I have no idea if my gfx card sux or not. Plz tell me if my gfx card sucks. Also, I'm getting another gig of RAM really soon, so what settings do you think I could play bf2 on with my gfx card and 2 GB of RAM?

you should be running your settings on med but you need to post your system specs. Yes patch 1.4 will cause instability with your system and your internet connection.

It does.

Don't bother. Your video card is a major bottleneck and having 2 gigs of RAM won't do you much good.

Will having 2 Gigs of RAM help bf2's overall preformance? Will maps load faster?
I don't really care much about the gfx in-game.

You're not using all the RAM you have, so no. Buying a faster hard drive or faster RAM will speed things up, not buying more RAM.

Well my comp runs pretty dang slow and Bf2 does too when I first start it up. Why the heck wouldn't more RAM help????

Because that's not how computers work. As I said, RAM is not your problem. You aren't using it all, so if you get more RAM, it won't even be used. It'll just sit there and do nothing.

Then shouldn't I raise the video settings for bf2??? hence the question: "What video settings should I run bf2 on?"

Low, with possibly medium textures. As I said, your video card is a bottleneck. Having a 10 million GHz CPU and 40 gigs of RAM while having a shitty video card won't allow you to run all high settings.

What settings you can run is a combination of your video card, CPU, and RAM.

What is a bottleneck anyway?

Yes, I'm serious.

When something is a "bottleneck", it means that that something is holding ur comp back from performing better or how it could perform. In this case your video card.

I got a Radeon 9550 256mb, Amd Athlon 2600+ at 1.9ghz, and 1.75 gigs of ram, but even if i take out my 512 and 256 sticks, it performs the same with bf2.

Same here.  Graphics dont really matter to me, but the extra distance while sniping helps.

Think of a pop bottle. All the pop can't come out at once due to the bottleneck. Well same kinda thing here. The video card is holding your system back.
