Sorry, I can't be much help there, I've been using  the Omega drivers (modified catalysts which dont use the CCC) for a couple years now.  I'm not sure I even remember what the CCC looks like.

First thing I'd do is switch to cat 6.7 and see if that sorts it.

Looks like you're using the wrong version of Microsoft .NET framework.

Alright, i'll help you.  Go to the control panel, click on "add or remove programs", then go down until you see "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0", click Change/Remove, and click yes.  Then go windows update and select "Custom", then wait for it to update, look around for Microsoft .NET 1.1 and select it a one of your updates to install.  Now would be a good time to get other updates if you haven't done it lately.  Then you should probably restart your computer whether it asks you or not.  Now your CCC will work.  Just don't install .NET 2.0, ATi seems to think it works with CCC but it really doesn't.

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

have you reset the 16:9 setting in the CCC or ATI Tray tools?

nope, didn't change any settings in Cat Control
just to clarify: the desktop appears as usual (in wide screen) before and after loading BF2, but the game itself no longer does (bars on sides)
so it's only the game that's having the problem

YAY! I FIXED IT!

It must have changed by itself some how after the ungrade
So if  u're have the same issue just go to & change this setting:

CCC> ADVANCED VIEW> DIGITAL PANEL PROPERTIES> ATTRIBUTES> IMAGE SCALING> select "SCALE IMAGE TO FULL SCREEN"

p.s. r2v4n - thnx for trying to help

I'll second the Omega Drivers.  ATI made an announcement quite awhile back:

Terry Makedon wrote:

"ATI supports the enthusiast community wholly. Omega Drivers are in fact a good example of ATI's user community at its best. What they are in principle are CATALYST drivers with different settings enabled via registry keys and other such methods. This provides users an alternative to ATI's CATALYST default settings. While there are a few different modification drivers out in the community our relationship with the creator of the Omega Drivers is of the highest working standard. The author of these drivers is part of the CATALYST beta driver testing team and also in direct contact with ATI. In fact we would go so far as to say that if a user chooses to go the mod driver route they go with the Omega Drivers."
www.omegadrivers.net

My only reservation with the Omaga drivers is that he only releases a new version if substantial changes have been made to the official driver.  This means that the latest Omega driver may be one or two versions behind the official release version.  Other than that, I've been using them for years and rarely install an official ATI release.
