Any info on the upcoming Radeon X1950 XTX. I was checking the sites and there isn't much info on it yet. Just a release date that will be fall 2006, but no prices, no core and RAM speeds.

If anyone has any more details please post them.

Thx

I'm gonna take a guess and say "Slightly better than X1900XTX" and "a couple hundred bucks more".

The pic in the first link is a reference card.  The cooler has since been changed to the pic you will see in the second link.

The only differences from the 1900 series card is the change from DDR3 to DDR4 memory, the new fan design, and slightly higher clocks.  It's been said that it will see about a 7% performance increase from the 1900 cards.  Definitely not enough to warrant an upgrade from a 1900.  Price should be at 399/499.  I also read that two 1950XTX in crossfire mode would outperform one 7950GX2 but that is pure speculation at this point.

Anyone else find ATI trying to copy Nvidia's 7950 a little sad?

And The x1950 is probably 600$ >.<

X1950 isn't a copy of the GX2, it doesn't compete with it. It got only one GPU, but newer GDDR memory - price will be around 400$.

Why hasn't ATi put 1GB of video RAM into any of their cards yet?

because it's overkill and they dont need to do jumps yet, theres such a thing as business strategy as if you stuck 2gb in now people would expect a 4gb one 4 months or something.

Why?  At present there are only a few scenarios where there is a need for a frame buffer in excess of the 256MB level, which means those 512MB cards underutlize their RAM in most cases.

And besides high-level workstation/simulator level graphics, who has released a card with 1GB of RAM?  Don't tell me about the 7950, because no matter how you slice it, that is still two cards.

i heart that the mem clock will  be 2Ghz by default.....  looks nice for overclocking, since 10% is already 200Mhz.... if you can overclock it 30%, you got 600Mhz, some people use that for bf2 (shame on them )

That was just the reference design.  The one that will ship doesn't look exactly like that.  See the links in the above posts.  The second link shows what the actual release HSF will look like.
