Alienware has been brought by Dell tho! Dell are the worse! Want a good pc then best thing to do is build it yourself!
Alienware operates independently out of beautiful Miami Florida. (I live in Beautiful Tampa Fl)
lol, for the 3rd time. Yes Alienware is owned by Dell but Dell has absolutely nothing to do with the manufacturing, marketing, or quality. They are still separate companies.
Alienware says that Dell executives have agreed to let Alienware operate independently. Alienware is still it's own brand and nowhere on there site will you find a Dell logo. It's just about logistics.
I am buying while a good friend of mine is going DIY. The prices are very similar. They have not always been this way. For years it was always DIY for the cheaper route but times are changing.Kinda like AMD no longer being the big kid on the block. We just have some stubborn victims left out there. Of course if they can acquire parts as cheap as the big companies out there(Resellers). They may be lower. This year has and will be an explosion of marketing and new technology. Keep your wit's about you because we have nothing to lose and lot's to gain.
I tell you this in order to save you grief. I really didn't have the heart to share with my friend that I was paying
about the same as he did while he is receiving everything piece by piece.(His chip ships next week). When he found out how much mine was gonna be when I told him I was buying a machine from Alienware he about crapped himself due to how close his cost it was.(insert record scratch sound effect here) In his defense he is one of those people who enjoys putting it together.
Of course Alienware will provide their take on DIY..lol

http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=37813Everyones experience is different. My experience with Alienware has been awesome. When my PC arrived a few days late they sent me a gift certificate to Amazon.com . They called me after recieving my computer to check up. Before they ship the run indivdual benchmarks on each machine. (They give you the log for you to see what your machine ran). This is what they run as of about a year and a half ago.
SiSoft Sandra
Doom 3
Unreal Tournament 2003
3DMark 2005
I repeat they run all this individually on your machine and give you the results.
And you have got to love the Alienware wiring

That being said I would stay away from the ALX systems. Those are indeed overpriced for the content.
USAFDude_1988 if you would like some advice I would be willing. You can get a nice long lasting setup for under 5k.
