my thoughts exactly.tnt_dynamite wrote:

I think it's great...they arn't giving the people who bought SF a real unfair advantage ( other than the flashbangs ) . So they arnt any harder to kill and then you get the nice new weapon and any extra flashes they may have not used up.
If you pick up a new weapon you don't keep it when you die as someone on page 1 indicated.
Bringing a complete new weapon (flashbangs) to BF2 is STUPID. If they are any good they will change many players tactics all over and those who didn't buy SF will suffer. I don't like games were you sneak around in the dark only to shoot one guy or to be shot. I'm more of the Rambo type and i think that works better with BF2 then with SF. And again the teamplay in BF2 is almost non existing so why think thats gonna change in SF? I don't think so...
so how long does it take
I got a bit pissed when someone first flashbanged me, but now I'm just getting on with it. So what if they have a few pretty new weapons to play with, kill them and take it and have a bit of fun on your own. Really doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact I'm pleased it's reinvigourated the game a bit from same old same old, and I haven't paid a penny extra for it.

so whats the new patch actualy do?
It gives the SF players the opportunity to annoy you with flashbangs.*TS*tphai wrote:

It makes the red name bug worse as you won´t see xxx[Teamkill]YYY. Instead you´ll just notice a teamkill by your decreasing score.
The TV guided missile screen now looks as you´re drunk so you have to compensate its movements by drinking alcohol to hit something with those missiles.
The haze effect on the in game tactical TV monitors is supposed ot be the static you would experience on a monitor of that type. But this is a small price to pay to finaly get the TV views contrast sorted, since prior to the patch the crosshair for TV guiding went invisible in bright skies.
As for the 1.12 patch giving SF players an unfair advantage, it merely gives them more choice & a flashbang. Also the patch tends to bring over some of the improved infantry balancing from SF to make infantry less helpless against vehicularly challenged opponents
P.S. Tiggalots Badger for Emperor of the Universe

the sf guns are SICK. Worth the money bitches!
Actually, from everything I've read, their's nothing special about any of the new SF guns, just more weapons to choose from. This is why I really wouldn't get all pissed off about the SF guys being allowed to use their weapons in regular BF2 games.kessel! wrote:

I think the only "unfair" weapon is the flashbang, while it isn´t really unfair, it´s just annoying.
The new SF weapons are the equivalent of the original unlocks. Some are great, some suck, and overall none of them are completely superior to any other weapon. The flashbang is a great addition to the original game, although I'm sure it probably gets overused. Regardless, I think the changes are all for the better. And for you whiners and cheapasses out there, quit your bitchin. The game is only 30 bucks, you get 8 new maps and lots of new stuff to play with. Why don't you want that? STFU AND BUY THE FREAKIN EXPANSION ALREADY!

I've noticed that they have worked on the graphics.. unfortunatly cuz I was running on the lowest setting possible - and now its simply too laggy for me to play (they've added some lighting effect as default).. so I'll have to get myself a new gfx card... bummer!
the water-effect on the TV guided is making me dizzy
don't know If its just me - but I think they have improved the stingers vs. aircrafts.. I've found it harder to break away from them - especially in bombers.
Oh yeah.. the team switching thingy.. I, for one, think its a good thing.. I like having some variation.. also it kind'a eliminates that the one team is winning every time.. I like it

When I bought the game I knew my vid card was the last to make the list in terms of qualifications for BF2 but how does that justify increasing the graphics level that is not adjustible to the end user ? And released in a patch to boot !?GTKtino wrote:

None. That makes no sense that they would include a graphical enhancement to a game that was already very demanding. I was running fine from the day of release until now. I don't care about having shinny textures on everything ! I want to play the damn game and enjoy every moment of it.
When the hell have you ever bought a game only to realize 5 months later your game is now incompatible with the system it has run on perfectly to date ? I like alot of EA titles but this is getting really sad. I don't blame EA or Dice for this problem. Nvidia can take the hate on this one. What better way to boost video card sales then to fk over the people that have not purchased one of there products for over a year.
So, as it stands for me now I need to spend at least 130 bucks for a decent GPU then spend another 30 for the expansion. Don't forget that BF2 played great for me until the 1.12 patch.
My final decision ? I will upgrade and get the expansion. Soon ? No not for a while. BF2 will still be popular by the time I throw more money into my PC.
FK U EA, DICE, and Nvidia for allowing me to enjoy a great product then deciding that you need more money. Unlike alot of you people I just don't spend as much on my pc. Overclocking did nothing to help remedy the problem.

I knew the card was going to be useless by 2006 but to have a game not work well after it did... fkers
ok i dont have SF ill buy it in the late future (2 years maby) ok when i get sick of bf2 and want to play on a diff feild youy know what i mean so ill just deal with what happens its ok its just a game its doesnt run my life
The only difference for me, is that today I noticed I'm back to being private and all my unlocks are gone. I don't think it was like that yesterday, but for the two maps I played today, it's like that! I was getting all these basic badges again, and I was thinking "Uh, hey, didn't I have that already?"
nothing to do with the patch, it's been a bug for some time now. you still earn points (i checked it) and your badges stay the same, rank as well, it's just a sligth annoyance. I guess it's okay if you have your unlocks (but still marked as privvy) although you'll have trouble getting cmdr.
hey did they ever fix the Battlefield HQ thing
My feelings exactly.Tigg@lot wrote:

Amen. $30 guys, honestly, and vid cards are dirt cheap. I got my GeForce 6200 256MB GT OC for about $120 brand new. I can handle any game out there, granted not on the highest of settings, but I can handle it with minimal lag on minimal settings, for games like this, minimal settings is still better than most other games on the market.warco3 wrote:

Not sure why your not able to run the game, I had to upgrade my card at the time of purchase of bf2 and got a ati 9600 se. This is a 128mg card and one of the lowest end you can run bf2 in. I have upgraded to the new patch and did notice that I had to change my video settings to lowest possible again, but the game runs fine. With a 5700 fx you should have no trouble running this (at least I would think) on lowest settings possible.Heretic wrote:

Hope you get it figured out so

I run on an ATI 9600 Pro with factory drivers and encounter no lag except for the first second after I spawn when joining a server for the first time. After that it runs smooth, even in an arty strike.
