Did anyone buy a new video card recently thats reasonably priced and good? I'm looking at ATI TV out , ATI Radeon 9550, 9250. If you bought a new good card for 100-200$ and its good at least 256mb, where did you buy it and how much? Is it much better? I have a Dell 8400 with Radwon x330 128 MB , Would 256 Radeon/ATI really improve BF2 and functioning of my computer (lag, desktop lag)?
i have ati 9550 256mb its ok card only play on low settings tho . i dont lag that much 5secs on entering game and off i go . next month i am rebuilding my pc with a 7600gt pci=e card , new mobo and processor and case so my game will be heaps better . also im getting 1.5mb internet connection
my 9550 256mb cost $89 Australian if thats any help

I also have a 9550 and I can set about 4 of the settings to medium. If I try to set the lighting to med and the shadows to low I get lag. I set 4 of the top 5 settings to medium. I left the "Effects" setting at low to boost my FPS a little. I think you could get a 9550 off Newegg, bestbuy or Fry's Electronics for under $100 USD. I am happy with my 9550 for what it is. Good amount of ram and fast hard-drive will get you into the game faster than the video card from what I have heard. If you got the money I would suggest making sure you have at least 1gb, but preferably 1.5gb of ram or more. Buy the best card you can for your money.
I bought a ATI x1600 PRO 512mb AGp for about $210. Once dx10 comes out i plan to upgrade to PCI-e. All settings on high.
Dont know what your price range is. Just got it yeserday. This was a good price to me compared to other cards and it's better than the 7600gt. You can probably put most settings on high. Hope it helps.

it scores about double of what the 9000 series ati cards do in benchmarks, and is about comparable to a 7600gt or an x1600. trust me, it's a huge leap from the x300 you have now. really cheap too; only 105 shipped.

Define "good".
I have an Asus Radeon X550 Gamer Edition 256 for less than 70€. It's on Newegg for 59.99 $. Medium/low settings (about70/30), view distance 100%.
Tv Out + DVI + Analog.
It's definitely the bottleneck of my system (Athlon64 3200+ s939/1Gig RAM on DualChannel) but has performed its task well enough for me to not consider a new purhase. Yet.

Buy a X800 If you are in to ATI Cards and need a cheap good card...
Of course I would recommend Gainward GF cards but you seem yo have an ATI inside your machine so I don´t recommend to change to that. (Many of my friends fought many days when changing cards...) But ATI to ATI Always seems to work fine. X800 is 256/256 so it will improve your gaming a bit or a lot.
BUT
What about RAM how much do you have, gamers recommend 1,5-2 GB of RAM to have BF working properly but you´ll do just fine with 1 GB also... But this is a factor that really improves the gaming beside of the video card!!!
Hope this helped you a little!!!
It would help you but if you have 1 gig it might not : (. If your aiming towards the mid range cards, id rather get the nvidia 6800. the X8XX have some old stuff on them : \ .kyilmaz wrote:

I had an x850 XL for a while for 150 bucks... good card for the price.
I got an x800 GTO 256 MB from newegg a couple weeks back... it was about $160 with shipping. Performs well in BF2.
9250 is not supported by bf2, and yes I found out the hard way.
