I do believe that is true, you can receive BF2 awards in SF. Just not the other way around.Slickdawg8 wrote:

Yes you can use your SF unlocks on any BF2 maps running on 1.12 servers. They're set up as tier 2 unlocks for weapons. Press the weapon up/down arrow keys once to bring up your orignal BF2 weapon upgrade and once more to bring up the SF unlock. Shoot away.
If you can get badges just playing SF then why try twice for a vet or exp combat badge in BF2 & SF. For instance: try for the Exp Eng combat badge in SF (44 kills) and earn the regular BF2 Exp Eng combat badge (40 kills) while doing so. Wonder if this would work, anyone try it yet?

I just updated the original post after re-skimming through medal_data.py so hopefully this will help everyone set their goals for what they need to get the new badges/ribbons/medals. Good luck.
Now go look at the first post i made on page 1, i hightlighted all the updated areas so you can save time browsing.

No, u don't get any BF2 badge in SF and vise versa, I tried with the Meritorious Unit Ribbon in SF, nothing happend, then in BF2 and got it yesterday. AND the Badges, Stars and Ribbons you get are diplayed in two several screens, one for BF2 and one for SF.
SF doesn't know that you would get a specific BF2 badge if you fullfill the requirements, because it's just not in the game code / file, everything SF knows is what is listed in the SF file for the rewards.

OK WELL what about this........under the new awards for SF there is a airborne specialist ribbon. IAR--20 minutes in a plane, 22 kills in a plane. how are you suppost to get this ribbon in SF when there are NO jets. YOu have to be able to get in BF2 or some of the awards are just a hoax!!!!
I know for a fact, that both BF2 & SF get the stats, awards, and unlock info from the exact same place(server). Since both use the same core files, that would make sense.SMKpaladin wrote:

The Python code in SF, has the references to the BF2 requirements. Unfortunately, we don't have the medal_data.py file for the BF2 side of things. We're just gonna have to wait and see what happens. Since I personally haven't spent much time playing the game, I'm missing most of the awards and unlocks. I plan to spend some time playing SF over the holiday weekend. I'll be able to determine if the BF2 bling is obtainable in SF. Chances are, someone will confirm one way or the other, before I'm able to do my thing.
I know for a fact that the Meritorious Unit Ribbon is given out in SF. I would say all the regular awards are available also.
In reply to the aviator service ribbon in SF: That's exactly what i thought as well which is why i said so in the first post. Doesn't make any sense to have this in SF when there are no planes to use. It's not commented out either which means that it is obtainable.
Are they going to add planes later? Or maybe you're supposed to earn it in regular BF2... but how can you if you're not playing one of the specialist kits? Or maybe someone just left it in by mistake?

Can you post pictures of the awards?
if everyone works maybe we can help Chuy sorting it out
ok first off the ribbion thing is bull i have 15+ hours as nvay seals still no ribbion and night vision is slightly bull nothing yet
I'd like to see someone getting a BF2 award while playing SF, so far I've seen of noone, who has proof that it is possible.
leave him alone, I know none of us shmucks would have gone and looked for all this info. thanks jester.
ok...i had the glitch when you join servers and you are a private, but really aren't, and I was playing special forces. Well, when you get this glitch, you can "Reget" the awards. And I got REGULAR basic assault. And then, about 5 mins later when I got more kills, I got the SPECIAL FORCES basic assault. So i do think that you can get certain, but not all, BF2 awards in Special Forces, but no special forces awards in BF2.
I hope this helps

I setup a little temp site just till ubar is updated on here. I have the pictures also.

that is REALLY hack
Nice, but you have to work it over, I don't want to see someone getting 3000 teargas/flashbang uses IAR. This has to be changed to global I think. Some others are also IAR, where they should be global. But please no offense, just a hint.-=Scott=- wrote:

The file says object stat not global.
#Expert
('1260602_3', 'X1fbb', 1, f_and( has_medal ('1260602_2'),
object_stat ('weapons', 'deployed', WEAPON_TYPE_TACTICAL, 3000))),
If you look at the medic combat badge it says
#Expert
('1261113_3', 'X1Mcb', 1, f_and( has_medal ('1261113_2'),
global_stat ('ktm-3', 360000),
Meaning 100 hours global.

Since some people asked for it, i've included the hrs for kits needed for vet/exp and also the image files of the badges, ribbons, medals that would pop up on your screen in game.
I also have the other set of larger badge/ribbon/medals (higher quality) pictures that would show up on your BFHQ. I may post later on if people want them.
P.S. I really appreciate the thanks people have posted. I do however think chuy deserves more credit for actually hosting a site like this and making it available for us BF2 players. I'm just posting info.
Check the first post for the updates.
... Ok i wasn't expecting 5000+ people to view this and it looks like this thread has been linked from some other BF2 forums. The images aren't gonna load if 100 people hit the url at the same time. blah
-- Update -- I fixed the pictures in first post, hopefull photobucket is more accomodating.

I bet they're going to add more maps with some jets in future patches for SF. That may be why they would put in an aviator ribbon.
Thanks for all your hard work on giving us all this info btw!

Yeah... as soon as they find sites/companies to sponsor the new maps, lol. Bla-ching $$ Maybe they'll be nice and offer Chuy to sponsor a map for $1 USD.
Anyhow... thanks Jester... lovely palindrome name. Thanks again, always Chuy.
To those crying "bullshit", STFU. They're reading it out of the game files... lots of software ships with features that were worked on, but disabled or commented out.
As for being no planes in SF, yeah, they got F-18's on the Essex, ROFL. Of course... they're just static models, which is a good thing, because if you ever actually tried to take-off or land on the Essex in an F-18 for real, you'd likely crash, as it's only an amphibious assault ship and is neither large enough nor does it have the propper equipment for non-STOVL fixed-wing aircraft. (Necessary equipment: catapults and arrestor cables). Well... jet-powered fighters, anyhow... I know they landed and launched a C-130 from the Forrestal several times, to test whether or not it could be used as a COD... but decided it was too risky... the wingtip only clears the island by 15 feet, lol... and that ship is a good 200+ feet longer. But... come to think of it even if the Essex had cats and cables, I doubt it could operate F-18's and F-14's, because I remember they were too big for the Lexington, which flew A-4's for training, and it was still a good 20-60 feet longer than a Wasp Class ship (OLD carrier... keel was laid in 1941, was a training vessel for aviators learning carrier ops from 1969 to 1991, my father was the USS Lexington's Petty Officer of the Year in 1989... and of course with an eval signed by the skipper saying he was "the best First Class on the ship", made Chief the next board).
Edit: of course almost as bad as the F-18's on the Essex is the Apache. Erm... a) that's an Army bird, b) there are no Navalized variants (so wouldn't be found sitting on the Essex even if the Navy did play with them... it takes more than a special paint job to "Navalize" an aircraft). But of course... I was afraid of that the first time I read "Apache" (though I was hoping it was for the Brit team)... I mean, they flubbed the USMC transport hilo badly (the marines would be using Hueys, which are far from obsolete, or CH-53's... but those are too big for the game, really... but the CH-60 they have has a Navy paint job... so it's supposed to be a Seahawk... even though the tail gear is in the wrong place... it's farther forward on the Seahawk than the Blackhawk, because the tail is hinged, and has to fold up).
