The problem with employment statistics is what they don't tell you. They only tell you about the people actively seeking work. There are those who have given up looking after long periods of being laid off. They also don't separate those that find work in their field of expertise. Many people end up not being able to find work in their field and end up taking other jobs, often at a pay rate that is far less than what they earned previously.
