Yeah... yesterday the game started up fine. I have the movies folder renamed so on startup theres a few black screens like 1 second each. Today I open BF2 and it does the black screens then crashes before getting to the login screen. I tried running in windowed mode to see if it would give me an error message but nothing.

I thought you were supposed to leave the "welcome" movie unchanged.  Try renaming the movies folder to movies again, then rename all movies except welcome and see if it works.  If it doesn't, all else I can think of is to reinstall.

Not sure where I read that thing about the "welcome" movie, so I'm not sure if thats the cause or not.

Tried that, doesn't work. And it wouldn't explain why it worked yesterday, just 12 hours ago.

I decided to google it and found a few possible answers...

1. Refresh rate/ resolution issue.  Go into your video.con file for your profile to change it.
2. Turn on windows 98 compatibility mode... I seriously found that... http://forums.techguy.org/games/387184- … rt-up.html
3.  Delete/move the My documents folder. <- LOL whoops, I meant the bf2 folder in My documents.
4. Complete reinstall of BF2.

Some of those wouldn't explain why it just started, but you might as well try.

I'll update this post if I find more answers.

Hm... 1.4 Beta 2 starts up fine.

1. It's set to the same thing as Windows (1280x1024, 75Hz)
2. didnt work
3. you cant really move my documents
4. havent tried that yet, kinda reluctant to

EDIT: Wow... I put my XFi back to Game Mode and it works... oops. Thanks for the help man.
