duh, obviously....Skruples wrote:
Or, *gasp*, is it possible that a series of slight changes combined with environmental pressure to adapt has led to the diversity of species we see today? No, no that doesnt make sense. Obviously its all the result of an omnipresent super-entity that created all life through a sheer act of will and then sent his corporeal son down to Earth to die for our sins so that we might enter a eternal paradise that noone has ever seen or returned from.
If you dont believe in God, im fairly certain that you already know the answer to your question skruples.
I was looking into the bible just there and I noticed something in Dinosaurs 10:13 - something about a stegasaurus, it's pretty vague though.
I always thought that was a brachiosaurus ... huh, I'll have to re-read that. I know for a fact that in Dinosaurs 3:13 it states that, "Unto the Tyranasaurus Rex He then offered a Triceratops to feast upon and stave the onslaught of hunger."
"Bohemoths"-"gigantopithocus" could it be? I guess we'll never know...
another mystery of the church eh?
another mystery of the church eh?
interesting - but I doubt many people know about that name. More commonly known as giant ape or perhaps bigfoot/sasquatch/yetti
I believe in both a god and in evolution. Absolute disproof of the former is not possible, and absolute knowledge of the latter is likewise impossible. Strangely to some, these views do not conflict with eachother in my mind, and you'll be hard pressed to convince me otherwise on either matter. About as hard pressed, say, as a Mormon would have at the door of a die-hard atheist.

I'm starting a new religion, and this time it's right...
Dinosaurs were around before us, therefore they must have created us, and in fact the whole universe. Then they all simulatanously entered another dimension they invented when they got into an argument about whether an universe which consisted of infinite matter interspersed with pockets of vacuum was a stupid idea that would never work... just as they were leaving the paradise they created, they thought all their work creating this dimension would be a bit of the waste with no-one to appreciate it, so they made a load of humans and spread them out across the planet.
Therefore dinosaur bones no matter how valuable are holy relics for my religion, and must be freed from the heretics forewith.

yet again this thread takes a sharp downward dip ... will it once again rise in spite of this?
I hope you aren't insulting my religion.PuckMercury wrote:

EDIT: If my gods could hear you from the other dimension, you'd really be in trouble:

Don't forget how horribly bad the fossil record is. Two things to keep in mind:Big McLargehuge wrote:
Some Creationists would say that missing links in the evolutionary chain of man changing from apes to man are kinks in the theory of evolution.
1. From what we have, it has been predicted that the number of fossils representing the entire continent of North America in a hundred million years will be less than one.
2. Even that figure may be skewed, as NINETY-FIVE percent of all fossils come from the sea.

I agree with spark. Its just that almost all of the intermediate stages of the animals that evolved didnt fossilize
So JaMDuDe, what is your reasoning behind the omission of dinosaurs from religious texts? Is your reference in Job to a bohemoth your only comment on the subject? I only single you out because you're the only real creationist who has posted here with any answer to the original post.
I do believe the dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago I was just posting what young earth creationists believe and some of their reason behind it.
young Earth creationists just confuse me. Totally ignoring all methods of dating takes a lot of ... fortitude.
So you don't really have any answer to that omission, eh?

Well, a common argument pro creationism would be that in 7 days God created life on earth. God's time is different than man's time as he is the beginning and the end so it could have actually been 7 billion years.
It is mentioned in the old testament (not sure where) that demons were cast to the bottom of the sea. This could be the dinosaurs we dig up today as we know that the "hot spots" for fossils was at one point under water.
That is all theory just as evolution is. We don't really know and prolly never will.

Well why would they need to give detailed accounts of dinosaurs if they were everyday animals? I guess they probably believe they were just some reptiles. And young earth creationists most likely believe they died out before a lot of the bible was written.
God created dinosaur fossils to separate the Chosen from the infidels.
young earth creationists are absurd because they don't bother reading the bible in the languages it was written in. when they bible says god created the earth in 7 "days," the same hebrew word is used as passages like "in the day of elijah." that doesn't mean elijah lived one single 24 hour period. a better translation would be that god created the world in 7 eras, which i personally believe. young earth creationists are, in my opinion, too dumb to really question their faith because they're scared that they're going to lose their faith. i think if you're scared that some fact might destroy your faith so you don't ask questions, then you lack real faith. just my thoughts.
The most common two theories I've heard are that fossils are a test of faith put there by god, and that god created everything four billion (or whatever) years ago instead.
A monkey's form is optimal for it's environment, thus theres no need to evolve? The process of evolution takes a LONG time, thus you won't typically see change over a few hundred years...although people are a lot taller these days, likely a result of the better diets we have now compared to the middle ages. Regarding neanderthals, theres a theory which says their chosen habitat contributed to their dying out; "modern" humans would pick better village sites, and would thus have better resources enabling them to prosper more than neanderthals.SEREMAKER wrote:
well explain the theory that we came from monkeys when you don't see any half ape half man now a days (I don't mean those really hairy guys either) but "if" we evolved why aren't monkeys still evolving or humans- why aren't we evolving into "mutants"
Evoloution doesn't take a long time - a generation, usually. We are already much taller than just, say, eighty years ago. What DOES take a long time to change is the environment.Pubic wrote:
