i posted earlier and i think i figured it out now, sort of. I recently ran msconfig and got rid of all the startup clutter. Is there something bf2 needs to run correctly ( without crashing when the first splash screen comes up? )
nope- just a normal occurence now
like, it wont even start...? thats normal? cuz it's never done THIS before..
EDIT:
i guess i should clarify.. by not start i mean it wont even go to the start up video. It just doesnt work
-yes i have enough ram
-its worked before
-yes i tried uninstall reinstalling it - havent repatched though?

maybe your gfx card died? what graphics card do you have?
Same thing happens to me sometimes after a crash (not CTD, but PC crash). uninstall/install sometimes wont be enough.
Clear out your battlefield2 directory in your docuemtns folder, and ensure that you delete the entirety of the BF2 install directory after the uninstall. then reinstall, add any expansions and patch your system... this seems to do the trick for me nomatter how badly the system crashed, and no matter which of the machines it happens on...
But if you can afford it, get a decent backup tool that will allow for point in time recovery, and just "reset" your system to whenever it last worked.

gfx card is fine, it'll run fear on all high still, i'll try that though twist thanks
Uninstall BF2 and all mods, wipe its folder from the EA Games directory, run a series of anti spyware and anti viral programs, and defrag. Reinstall BF2, patch, and try again. It would also help if we knew if you were running 1.3 or one of the 1.4 betas.
If crashing persists, download and run memtestx86 (instructions available via google search) to check your memory for issues, which is one of the primary reasons for crashes.
