Whatever your political persuasion, holding an extreme view either hard-left or hard-right requires a certain level of ignorance. Do you agree?

MUCH better, of course, I think any position that requires the holder to ignore facts, avoid truths, or deny outright (no research) is stupid

I am a conservative but parts of liberalism are correct the thing that people need to look out for is what works best for thier country and thier people and of course the TRUTH
extremist views tend to be the ones that shun any knowledge that might lead to critical thought. So even if an argument is intense and both sides have points, it is both parties' responsibility to know the other's points. Extremists tend only to recognize their own points, and thus root themselves in conveying ignorance
Extreme leanings to one politcal side require some degree of ignorance. Granted, there are some people that fit the mold of a political parties' ideals perfectly, but those people are few and far between. Most people blend some elements of both parties, some elements more than others.
absolutely, neither extreme has it right. In fact, both extremes are mostly wrong.
no black, no white, only grey
I see what you did - nah, it's not funny 3 times.

Extremism (or absolutism) ---> A simplistic, convenient view ---> ignorance or laziness.

How amusing coming from someone called 'Liberal Slayer'.Lib-Sl@yer wrote:

Libertarians could be called extremist, but it seems their members either lean all the way left, or all the way right. Looking through voter pamphlets, I am usually hard pressed to find two Libertarian opinion sets that coincide with eachother.
Anyone who has any semblance of an education would agree that too much of any side is blind ignorance. Why create this topic??
When everyone knows the obivious answer?
Too much of anything is bad at some point. . .
The key to life is finding BALANCE within it. . .

It was made in response to Major Spittle's stupidly one-sided topic 'Liberalism Requires Ignorance' - I didn't really want to create a thread that would continue for very long.fadedsteve wrote:

I think people think I'm more extreme than I am.
It has always been my nature to prod and poke and people, to disect their opinions to find out if they really have fleshed out their views or if they are just replaying shit they heard on the radio.
I voted yes.
My new sig is gonna say; " Kill all extremist. "
