I Have and Nvidia Ge-force 5200 FX, and it only runs BF2 on super low settings (Its an old computer that needs some upgrading) I have 1,024 MB of Ram.

I need a decent video card that can at least make the game run on Medium so I can actually see the bullet holes on the wall, and to show the speedometer in the Humvee.

I have an AGP port.

I have an ATI 9700Pro, 1G Ram, and have BF2 running at 1024x768 Medium.

This card would do the trick http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/110063/rb/20695871395

This is the card i use , a little expensive but worth every penny to see BF2 in high settings with 2x antiailising :-)

Why does everybody want to play at the highest settings? I play on medium and my computer could easily handle the highest. You never notice if you're really in the game. Besides, all you really need is 100% viewing distance.

I'd agree with that, I used to have the nvidia 5200, running everything on low (thought makes me cringe) i to have 1gb ram, the new card i got nvidia x1300 (got it for £50 so i wasnt to picky about thee best card, cant really beat that price, seen it for £100 on e.g play.com) it is capable of running on high, but medium is far smoother.

Jump from low to medium is very noticeable, medium to high, although there is a difference, it's not enough to sacrifise good smooth game play.  To me anyway, set em all to medium and perhaps terrain and/or texture on high, and your good to go.

And ofcourse 100% view distance.

geometry needs to be on high, it effects view distance as well.

otherwise, effects on medium. Everything else can be on low.
Turn shadows and lighting off and ALWAYS have Anti Aliasing OFF!!

i run at about 80 fps with everything on high..... So it makes no difference to game smoothness for me. With the above settings my fps just sits at 100 pretty consistantly.

HOWEVER i have found the above settings stop me from being distracted by little details and having shadows off means people inside buildings stand out!!! makes it a lot easier to play!!

I have had 6600 and that's not true. Maybe in 16 player maps but like in 64 or 32 maps u can't play without graphical lag.
