Man, that's really old. I loved to play Commander Keen, Dune, Red Alert, Wolfenstein 3D, Quake (1 or 2, I don't remember)...

Quake (the original) is sweet. So is Red Alert... RA1 is much better than RA2.

My favourite classic game was Outlaws. I'm thinking of getting a copy again. Compatibility mode time ....

Best. Western. Game. Ever.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Oh god if I had to pick I'd have to say Monster Bash pinball. I think these are my favs for each system:

C64: Ghostbusters
Atari: Spider Fighter
NES: Gauntlet II
Sega: Rock n Roll Racing or Dune RTS
SNES: Final Fight
PS: Resident Evil II or C&C Red Alert

*I forgot Sega CD!! Money Island, Dragon's Lair, or Jurassic Park.

I loved doom and command and conquer (the original). But before that on the amiga 500 there were:
Cannon Fodder (one of the greatest games ever imho)
street fighter (though it was far superior in the arcade)
and various other ones I can't remember the name of.

Not on the PC now but the game "circuit breakers" on the ps1 is the most fun multiplayer game I have ever played. You get 4 people in a room playing that and you can be there all day. Also doubles as a good drinking game.

Giana Sisters
Monkey Island (1+2), Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max (the age of great adventure games)

Ghostbusters in C64 was cool too. Perhaps the longest loading game at that time. You can play it (and many other C64 titles here. Unfortunality Ghostbusters's controlls don't work correct for me.

On Nintendo Systems I liked the Zelda titles and Metroid was time consuming too.

I used to play the shit out of AoE II. Online is a bitch though because you have to go through that MS Gaming Zone site. AoM is awesome online but it lost a lot of it's players about a year ago.

- 12 disk change on monkey island 2 .. killed it.
Buggy Boy, International Karate+ , Puzzle bobble/ Bubble bobble/ Rainbow Island - Leisure Suit Larry, Conquest of Camelot - all 1988-1998 sierra , lucasarts were the best.  All the original click n point games.
Syndicate was the pinnacle of gaming back then . Street racer .. YOU HAD A GARAGE AND COULD CHANGE PARTS - INSANITY.
STREET FIGHTER 2 - Need i say more. ( final fight was sick too )
When ninja turtles came out people would rob their grandmothers to play it.. 4 players was insane. then konami brought out that crap ripp off that i bought thinking it was the arcade and all my friends laughed.

word. You ever play X-Men Arcade? If I remember right you could play the game over again after you beat it if you had credits left.

The first RPG and what got me hoocked on games, read the entire series of books too.

But my all time favourite game was Baldurs Gate.
https://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arena/8461/baldurs-gate.jpg
It had so much to it. So many different things to do and so balanced. BG II was also good but a step below BG.

Try it in compatibility mode. At least Syndicate Wars runs under WinXP.

My favourite classic games are as followed:

Amiga:

Anstoss - great Soccer manager
Battle Isle - futuristic strategy game
Cannon Fodder - strategy funshooter
Die Sieder (The Settlers) - strategy game, everybody should now the follow ups
Formula 1 Grand Prix - MicroProses really good racing simulator
Lemmings - we all know these small green creatures
Maniac Mansion - great & funny adventure
Mega Lo Mania - strategy game and evolving his own tribe
Monkey Island - really good adventure
Pirates! - One of the best games ever
Populous - who doesn't like to be god?
Sim City - evergreen with dozen of follow ups
Simon The Sorcerer - good adventure with at the time incredible graphics
Syndicate - one of the computer game milestones
Wing Commander - good story, good action, bad movie
Zak Mc Kracken - one more really good adventure

There are a lot of other games i don't remember right now. One more classic i would to add is "Comanche" for the PC. By far one of the best arcade-/ helo-simulator.
