Ok, every time I connect to a server in BF2, I can move around for a good 2 seconds, then it freezes, I get a "Your connection to the server has been lost."

Also, apart from that, my mouse starts to lag, and my sound starts to get choppy. And my computer starts to slow down to. After a system restart, it's all good again. I can still use the internet, and I can still use programs like X-Fire and Teamspeak which I don't get disconnected from.

I've had BF2 since december, it was working fine yesterday, but today its not. I'm pretty sure it's only me because I saw people playing in servers. I tried many different servers.

Also i tried waiting before I clicked "Join game" and the game froze right then, then I got the game message "Your connection to the server has been lost"

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Install any recent programs or software lately? Check your PF usage and see how much "charge" you're committing to the game...mine is about .98gigs and it runns fine for me. Make sure all your backround programs are shut down like Ares or Limewire. What kind of hardware are you running and video card etc.? I had this problem a while back but it just stopped. Oh and what kind of internet/router do you have? Check you computer for upates and all that good stuff.

PM me if you want.

What are your PC specs?  (as a general rule, it's a good idea when posting for help to include them in your post).

My PC specs are an

AMD Athlon 3200+
1.5GB RAM
Radeon 9600XT 256MB

It was working fine on 1024x768, all graphics on medium until today. I get 25-30FPS when I play, I really don't think it has something to do with my system since It's been working fine for 6 months now. And it says I got disconnected from the server. My ping is usually about 40-60ms and I've only gotten kicked for ping 3-4 times in all time I've been playing bf2. I've got a 1.5MBPS connection. I don't think it has to do with hardware. All my temperatures are fine. Processor runs at 40C while playing BF2 and 30C Idle.

EDIT: Looks like specs are not the prob.

Just a shot in the dark here but when something like this starts happening to me, I go to:

Control panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

and then dig around in the logs under Application, and System.  Many times I have found an error in there with a timestamp around the time the problem occured.  From there at least you may find clues which will help you to identify the problem.  If you find a suspicious error, google it for more information.

Yep, looks like i further proved the fact that it's not my system specs because I could play a full round on single player without lag or problems. It felt like 60+ FPS.

Thx for the help sarge...

I never have a clue about these things mate, I can completely assemble a PC from scratch and install water cooling, but when it comes to those random errors you run in to I just give up and reformat.

uninstall bf2 completely off your pc you will get a prompt to delete profiles and such delete everything.

reinstall bf2 & sf

install ef and af if you have it, patch 1.3 full not incremental

manually update punkbuster

start bf2 retreive account from EA and play

i got this info from lots of threads on this site "ALOT"

i have done this and so have my freinds . we now have hardly any problems . i get ctd about once or twice a week now , better than 15 times a night !!!!

i have the looping music freeze followed by crash to bfhq , but not often

also every now and then when i play AF it will tell me to buy it again , if this happens just repatch 1.3 full
and your ok

this may not work for every one

my pc is 2.6ghz 1gb ram 512kbs net ati 9550 256mb gpu 200gb hdd + 80hdd + all usual crap on pc

also every process you can shut down, shut it down

defrag regulary

turn off windows fire wall and anti virus

this is how my pc plays bf2

hope this helps

bye Mike

I had this problem up until recently, I found it was my firewall buggering it up.  When i reformatted I opted to d/l zonealarm instead of paying out for the mcafee disc I lost and that completely buggered my game up, either get mcafee or turn ur firewall off Hope you get it sorted soon.
