no problem glad to help
There is a crucial order in which to do things, if a stage fails move onto the next one:
1. Check any background programs.
2. Check you specs and possibly run some benchmarks.
3. Download latest Drivers.
4. Reinstall the game.
5. Reformat your computer and reinstall all.
If that doesnt work dont know what will. Btw a reformat should occur on your computer ever 6 months if you dont want problems that pop up now and then, or atleast seperate hard-drives, a small one for windows and apps and a large one for downloads and games etc.
Thats all the advice i can give, however I very much doubt this requires to even go as far as stage 4.
Edit - Didn't see that you got a solution that worked.

I'm having pretty much the same problem with BF2 where the game will crash with a
"BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
error, right after the logo screen. The game doesn't enter full screen mode.
This problem began for me about 2 months ago, until then, I never had a problem, so I know it's not an issue of my computer being able to handle the game. The problem seems to occur when Battlefield 2 is run for a second time. When I turn on the computer, run BF2, play, close BF2, and try to play again without a restart, it crashes. I tried multiple things to fix this problem, and I eventually ended up downgrading my nvidia drivers to 84.21 (i was running 84.25 beta). I have formatted my computer and installed again, and it still doesn't work.
Here is the order of what I do from a clean install.
Install BF2
Install BF2 Special Forces (which auto patches before SF is installed)
Install Patch 1.3 Full (downloaded from EA downloader)
Install Euro Force
Install Armored Fury (both also, from EA downloader)
I have tried this every step of the way too. After I install just BF2, I try and when I try it for the second time, it still doesn't work. So, other than the NO-CD Crack, does anyone have any ideas??

Bugger, well that's what I would have suggested you try as it sorta sounds like a Windows issue (corrupted registry entries or something odd like that).OnePumpChump wrote:

It doesn't sound like a heat problem but you could have a look inside the case and see if it's dusty, the fans are running smoothly etc.
BTW, on the installation order, it's recommended in a few places to run the patch again after the expansion packs. From what you say I doubt it'll make any difference here but I thought I'd mention it.
Well, I checked my temp and that's all good. I did also try the re-install the patch after the expansion and booster packs, but that too, did not work. I appreciate the help though. Thanks.Todd_Angelo wrote:

Also, I have about 20 other games on my computer, and I don't experience this problem with any of them.
