i just ran the cleaner thing and got back 5 gig of memory : 0 not sure if it fixed the problem though
Go to Start-->Run and type SFC /purgecache.
After it finishes, Start-->Run SFC /scannow.
This is the Windows System File Checker utility. It will scan all your system files and replace any corrupted ones with originals from the XP cd. You will need your XP cd and I would advise running Windows update when completed to update replaced files.
If this doesnt fix it, try system restore to a point prior to this occurring, this will not delete any of your files but will delete any programs installed after the checkpoint.
