That's kinda what i'm wondering, most of the people in the this forum seem to be absolutely DROWNING in money though so that might be why.^KoB^Buckles wrote:

if your computer turns on when you press the button and runs everything you need it to run, then what's the problem?
Its only 1 product give it a little time and AMD will come out with something more powerful like always
in which time Intel will have developed an even more UBER NINJA CPU unit which will take AMD another 2-3 years to copyCRIMS0N_W0LF wrote:

ok this is what will happenCRIMS0N_W0LF wrote:

AMD
2007: 65nm AMD cpus/ possibly K8L
2008: K8L for desktop
Intel
2007: quad core kentsfield/ 45nm conroe
2008: nehelam, conroes succesor
2009: 32nm nehelam
2010: another new architecture
intel said they would release a completely new architecture every two years. for now, the price/performance ratio and overclockability for conroe is just incredible, E6600 2.4ghz conroe kicked FX62's ass. and can overclock higher

I hope Intel buys NVDA....I have a bunch of NVDA stock at $24.....need to make my money back.
Ah...this thread has been hijacked to become an Intel vs. AMD thread.
I've lost all respect for ATI now that they are merging with AMD. Some Intel Server boards had integrated ATI graphics. I guess not anymore. I think ATI is going to find that their diehard Intel guys that use ATI graphics are going to start switching over to NVidia.
I used to use NVidia graphic cards until one of my fav game MFG's would make a patch, then the patch messed with the NVidia's drivers, then NVidia came out with a new patch to crrect the games patch, then the game would crash. This went on for 3 months. I went to ATI because none of the ATI guys where having problems (NVidia enhanced game). I will admit, NVidia does have awsome graphics, when game MFG's don't touch the damn drivers and am thinking about going back to them myself.
AMD does make good CPU's, but some of us old school guys are just stand-offish on it. Remember the problems with Win 95 and Cyrix CPU's and games. God, you needed a program to trick the game's installer program into thinking your Cyrix was a Pentium just to play some of the games because it did a hardware check and said you weren't running the proper CPU.

my Business Studies teacher a few years back had stocks in British Steel at about 6% of their original value. Poor guy!
The sad this is that when AMD annouced the merger earlier the stock fell over 15%. The reason being that share holders were afraid that AMD will lose the market share to Intel.
it's gunna be a close thing. Thing is, I reckon that Intel and nVidia are gunna have to team up (at least) to keep a hold on the market so there's gunna be a lot of exclusivity on that front. In the end it's only gunna hurt us consumers cuz we're gunna be very limited on our choices of hardware
well this may be true, but i as a gamer/techie wouldnt care much about that... why? im too poor to run SLI or crossfire intels new IGC is a major improvement from the last one. but AMD needs chipsets from other companies since they dont make it themselves^KoB^Buckles wrote:

true, true
Just once more for clarification. Up until this very month, AMD clearly ruled the roost in terms of gaming performance. As of this very month Intel has stolen the performance crown. For how long may be debatable but at least into mid/late 2007.
Don't believe it? Instead of posting your rebuttal here, take a moment and visit ANY tech site, does not matter which as they are ALL in agreement. Intel has stolen the crown, and not by just a bit, Anandtech stated that Intel's new Conroe chip was the fastest CPU they had ever seen. What was true in June is no longer true. You can bury your head in the sand if you wish, but sooner or later you will come to terms with this fact.
My first Intel chip was in 1993. My second intel chip will be a Conroe.

so you guys are saying that ati will hardly support intel because amd is merging with them : (
Also Intel has a large RD department : ). But hey i dont really like one company more, i just buy the best one.

did amd do something to you personal? kill your mother? eat your savings? just let the people have amd and you have your intel - it doesnt change the worldcyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

Well now at least, and that's one line of CPUs of Intel. Everything else is less efficient. Intel are like weak hearts that have to beat faster to exert the same amount of strength as an AMD heart, which beats slower but stronger. If you have a high resting heart rate, hit the gym! Intel did that with Conroe and made a little Rocky.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

i have over 100 forums documented proving that amd outperforms intel ..
I hope the best for AMD because Conroe is going to rip out AMDs' liver.
Let me interject with an actual response to the original topic on the AMD & ATI merger.
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060724-7333.html
This article is correct that this merge may potentially lead to some impressed intergrated video card motherboards. With the GPU in a CPU socket on the motherboard itself it can have it's own deticated cooler, power supply and all sorts of things that the CPU would get. It would have to share the DDR2 memory on the board but with the increases of that to as much as 4 GiG on some platforms that might not be an issue. With a deticated communication channel on the mainboard instead of using the PCI-E slot this might increase communication between the CPU and GPU. It at very least prompts a new line of thinking when it comes to integrated mainboards for a cheaper cost. Think of low cost systems with a better graphics engine built in. It's a good step forward if AMD & ATI take it to that level.
The Intel Core 2 Duo is still going to kick ass and take names for a while at least.

dude, Intel and nvidia would like totally kick AMD and ATI's ass and stuff. I don't care what cyborg trash talks about conroe, I say it's a good chip. Maybe even a good overclocker I hear ...
Intel+nVidia=Total Destruction of everyone else.
maybe this is why my ATI stock has been doing so well the past few days lol
yeah no shit dude you need to get out more and stop bitching everytime someone says 'AMD' in a post.. its fucking annoying. I already know conroe will kick ass, but you shoving it down my throat every-fucking-post.Eboreus wrote:

nVidia won't stop making AMD chipsets. They only recently got an Intel license and they have even less Intel market share that SiS. Unless NV wants to take it in the ass on their chipset business, they will continue to build AMD chipsets. AMD has no plans to stop working with NV, and it is NV's best interest to do the same.
