Everytime i use the L85A1 in CQC i end up teamkilling my Squad members because it's so incredible inaccurate.
The only weapon I use as a Medic is the L85A1, and thats the only reason I play medic. If they put the L85 for Assault, Id play Assault.
Its down to how you use the weapon and how much practise you have with it. I prefer fully automatic weapons (which is why I hate the 36E). Earlier, I took out 4 guys in 1 clip with the L85 and a 5th with a pistol, all at close range on Wake.

I hate that fucking L85A1, I can never hit shit with it, I find myself using burst fire 5 ft away from a guy who hasnt seen me and still dont hit him.

Despite your noble efforts to calm things down here, I'm going to say what I think:
the statement that all the guns are equal is utter bullshit.
The AK-101 and AK-47 are the worst at long range.
The G36e can fire bursts at a higher rate than the m16 with the same deviation.
the AK and l85 are the only ones that get one shot kill headshots.
The l85 starts spraying horribly the longer you fire. The AK's are both better at this.

Haha you should see me single shot'ing into a huge crowd with the 16. M249s have a hard time keeping up. I try and control my bursts, but I love full auto for the fact that I feel I have more control over the bullets when I have control over how many come out.SargeV1.4 wrote:

yeah either spray like hell or fire carefully against prone opponents I'll sometimes just aim at the head and mash the left mouse button untill a bullet hits home

but, back to point, IRL the L85/SA80 would climb up badly... being made of plastic and having all the weight at the back... but i still use it and, if i say so myself, am quite good with it.

Ok, there are 2 versions of the L85. The old, pre patched one which couldnt hit shit and did 32 damage (which is the one in that table on page 1) and the new, patched one (I think it was 1.03 patch) that does 34 damage and is more accurate.
Now, players have 100 health. So both will kill a player in 3 shots.
Headshots do x3 damage. Anything over 33 kills in a headshot. So both kill in one shot to the head.
Shooting body armor reduces damage by a third.

34/3 = 11.3
34-11.3 = 22.7
100*22.7 = 4.4 (so 5 shots needed to kill)
AK-101
37/3 = 12.3
37-12.3 = 24.7
100/24.7 = 4.04 (still 5 shots needed)
Thus, they have exactly the same power.

I like the L85A1, I just find it useful in most situations, for me it works.
I think its sound make it seem weak, when its not that bad.
