I'm experiencing tons of lag...it only seems to happen when there are more than 3 players near me. It's to the point that I can't move, I never had any problems before.

I didn't read all 6 pages so please forgive, but 1.3v isn't compatible with nVidia's 91.xx drivers for GeForce cards.
I wonder if I go back to maybe the 80's drivers there might be some increase of performance.
some more errors I get since the patch:
After having "There may be a problem with your connection" and trying to rejoin another server I get through the loading, press "Join Game" and when the game starts I can see the last 5 chat-messages/messages the server gave and the score usually stucks to 0:0...map etc. all remains blank and either I Ctrl+Alt+Delete or I have to wait a few minutes till it says I have been disconnected...I have this several times after another...tried 3+ servers in a row, sometimes even after restarting the game the problem still stays
Commander can prevent capture of flagpoint singlehandedly on certain flagpoints...a good example for that being Strike at Karkand "Suburb"...just drop a car on the flag-pole and it explodes and takes everyone around the flag trying to cap it with it...a lot more effective than trying to drop it on someone's head...
Weird messages saying commander has resigned by default because he left game or in other variations even though he is still commanding
And another problem that didn't seem to get fixed over time (not just this patch) that some people may call "lag" or describe as lag...facing a certain direction say south on Mashtuur makes everything lag as hell...if you turn your sight north/west/east everything runs fluid again, turning south again everything starts to lag as before...usually I try to walk sideways whenever that happens but it's annoying as hell...

Yep...happened quite a lot and also had quite a lot of deaths because of it...If a jeep/buggy is coming towards you and you fire an Eryx or similar AT round it usually goes right through. The only time I have actually gotten a kill this way is by shoting to the outside and trying to loop the round back into the side of the jeep. Very hard to do. If I'm at the side and I shoot the jeep is often destroyed. Collision Detection?

The M4 selector switch is set to Semi when in Full...
New thing started up with me the other day, I can only play A round, before a CTD. Comes up Usmc won the round 39-0 or whatever, a pause and then, I am greeted with my desktop, pissing me off to the extreme!

This is because server shows the "Join Game" button before client has fully done loading, and client forces server to accept him, but server can't so CTD. But yes, this needs fix.9. Clicking "Join Game" causes some people to crash to desktop.
24. When shooting enemy aircraft with heatseeking missiles, and enemy drops flares, the missiles hit friendly target.
To avoid CTD's on join game, after the button shows, just wait 10-15 seconds, then press Esc. and crash is avoided.
I have only had major problems since getting a promotion 2 days ago, I have read all the posts and have experienced all of the issues stated over the last 2 days. Rather not have got the promotion and upgrade and put up with the occasional lag spike, but this is ridiculous now fire one shot then game freezes and problem with connection. Had a fatal error occur that caused the computer to basically self boot not before seeing a nice blue screen flick up for about 1 second with a bunch of writing. It's all very damn annoying. FIX IT EA!!!!

what a game,I mean I have reformatted and spent hrs patching all for this game.now I know Ive read that many other games dont have the issues that BF2 creates,why?
last night was the most recent for me, as I went to change my resolution and settings to high to gain more eye candy(game looks awsome at high settings)loaded and went to join a server and guess what,"this server only allows unmodified content" error !! wtf,so I try another server,same deal !! now Im pissed, alls I did was change my settings.In my moment of frustration for not being able to get my game fix I thought to do a system restore to the day before and believe or not that worked.Ill leave my settings at medium and hang in there in hopes 1.4 will be here soon and the last patch they put out...

Great post hopefully they can fix my continual CTD. Today I've had about 8 CTD and can't play the fing game. I'll try the previous esc advice previously given.

I too have pretty much suffered all of these problems at one time , some allot more than others . I do hope that the 1.4 patch addresses these problems .
You guys are missing the point, the problems have never been fixed since day one!
All they do is mess with settings and add some new shit and they call it a patch. It is not a patch, it is a buggy feature upgrade! All the stuff that made the game fun has been taken out so that, more often than not, I'm dying by spawn raping tanks and APC's, claymores everywhere, commanders dropping 10,000 jeeps at one time, or getting blown out of the sky by a jet that can fly slower than the Blackhawk!
Personally, I think BF2 peaked at 1.12. We played that patch for a long time and the game play was more consistant than it is now. BF2 just seems to becoming more and more unenjoyable to play... and EA thinks I'll spend $50 on 2142? pfft.

I think that 1.3 patch sucks, it makes my bf2 crash sometimes when i click the join game, and verify client data takes me about 3min, so i hate this update i really wait that patch 1.4 comes (i don't mean beta version)

EA/Dice needs to fix how if you install the new "patch" they release, then buy and install a "booster pack" (ahem, EA, you have my money, its called a content patch, which are free. not booster pack.) you cannot play the "booster pack" unless you re-install EVERYTHING, or wait for the next "patch".
20.b. EA, stop releasing new "booster packs" and teaser trailers for BF2142 to draw attention from the mess you made of this game, which all started from "ZOMG, im a nO0b, nerf tuh blkchawsk, it;s 2 strng, dnt maek me brng un me 13e7 haxz!"
20.c. I think everyone can agree with me here, (if not STFU and go flame a post about how much you hate sniper videos) EA/Dice spend as much time as you need on patch 1.4, just fix the game, dont spend 2 weeks making a "patch" that just messes it up worse.

I agree,it has become very unenjoyable to play and I have been nosing around some of the latest fps games and should have my choice ready to install by this weekend coming up.just as I have put down cigs,booze and mary jane,all what may be considered addictive,bf2 will also have to be tucked away if 1.4 doesnt give it a descent fix...ReTox wrote:

patch 1.3 is the worst "patch" I have EVER experienced in ANY game that I have played! I will play for an hour or two BAM "connection to server lost" HOW? I HAVE less than 30ping?? I had never had these issues prior, or if I did, it was a LEGIT reason. I have an awesome cpu, and I still get these problems, its unreal!!!
EA made the game WORSE than it was before!! 1.4 better fix these CONSTANTLY nagging issues! I sure hope to god they fix this, because its REDICULOUS that these problems continue to rear their ugly heads!!! A deatch scream when someone spawns near you or when you are spawning youreself can be heard often.
TV missile on attack helis often jam and won't fire.
Tow misfires much like the TV missile does.
When piloting the attack helis, gunner occasional has no sound or animation when firing the mounted gun.
Often no sound of enemy bullets or tank shells hitting attack heli.
Infantry still get teamkilled from the slighted touch of a slow moving vehicle.
Commander assets still auto-respawn when they were never repaired.
Can't join a squad when getting spawncamped.
Laser guided missile on bombers often doesn't hit locked-on targets - veers off to left or right instead of going straight.
Defribillator often doesn't work reviving players.
Knife only works half the time. It often just knocks the dust off then enemy's uniform.
AT rockets go straight through enemy jeeps when they come stright at you.
