Does any one know were I can get VIA Bus Master IDE Controller drivers??

I have installed a old dvd rom to my system, fitted correctly and the device manager says that the device won`t start.

Ive tried looking for drivers for the COMPAQ DVD-ROM Drive DRD-8120B Internal IDE 12X, but no - luck.

Help ?
Mobo is abit ABIT KX7-333 , processor is 2400+ XP.

Here is the chipset driver for that mobo. The only other driver for your particular mobo on the ABIT site is a USB driver.

DVD drives rarely require any driver per se. That being said, they all have some measure of firmware which is updated from time to time.

I suppose this is assuming you understand the difference between firmware and a driver. If not, lemme know and I'll explain real simple like.

You really should NOT mess with that unless you know what you are doing. If you fail to flash it correctly you will turn your drive into a motorized cupholder.
