I just figured it out ...I was under the impression that you needed the wins as comander but it's if you win the match at least for me at this point.

He got it the noob way like just about everyone does now. At near end of round if he's not on winning team he switches to the wining team to get the win. If he couldn't switch to winning team then leaves the server before round ends. So he doesn't lose. See noob players doing this everyday I play. Pretty sad way to get a ribbon.
Even more sad when u learned how to get this ribbon this way and make a new account just to get the ribbon.
So you can brag about getting the war collage ribbon.

congrats man, i guess it's easier considering you've played only 70 hours, so the win/loss ratio can't be hard to change.  nice

Here's a disturbing trend i noticed while playing this morning on several different servers ....I join start kicking ass I'm on the winning team and just before the match ends I'm switched to the losing side, this sucks admins are assholes who do this. You can keep that stupid ribbon at this point. If it was based on wins as a commander I would have recieved it a while ago. This switching teams and getting switched or kicked just sucks.

If you leave the game, you still get the loss. Nice try though.

aww give him a break. Yeah he did some n00bing to get it, but even so that's a lot of noobing and takes a great deal of determination. I would not be able to commit myself to doing that because of how tedious it would be.

I agree though, that this ribbon is extremely hard to get, like it should be, unless you get it at an early stage in your account.

oh btw, as long as long as we're talking about commander tricks and such lemme put in my 2 cents. Always sit in a vehicle of some sort when commanding. the amount of time spent just sitting somewhere as commander really adds up, so why not increase the time played in a vehicle too, as well as your kdr since arty kills still count as kills. If you don't believe how effective doing this is, take a look at my ground defense stats or look a the #1 ground defense player, see how my points he has as commander and that expert commander badge? coincidence? absolutely not.

Seeing how you changed the subject.......

Fine, take a vehicle and sit in it, BUT NOT A FIGHTING VEHICLE!

Karkand, 1 tank and 1 LAV. The commander would take the LAV and sit in the hills next to the US base. Not fighting, not protecting the base, just sitting with one of our best assets.

Off topic: Section I noticed you might wanna get a shiny new ariel service ribbon, can't fly? You can get in the bomber as a co-pilot with a good pilot you know or a teamplayer one, i'm not looking to rack up serious kills myself I prefer talking over VOIP to my co-pilot giving him the shots he needs, much more rewarding.

Yep, if you can, try and take a car or a stationary ground/air defense mechanism.

Sitting in a car does have it's risks though.  Once I was commander on Karkand in the gunner position of the car in the gas station area of the US main.  So I was on the commander screen almost the whole time.  And after about 10 minutes I hear an explosion and me and my car are dead.  I had no idea what happened, but I looked at my surroundings and I was at the MEC main.  Apparently someone had been driving me around for a while and I had clue how long.

Good input man. Thanks!

Yeah.. sadly, switching teams is the only way to get this ribbon. Unless you ALWAYS play with your clan or people you know, it's pretty difficult to make your team win consistently.
How do you switch teams and remain the comander?
You don't need to reman the commander after switch. You just need wins/losses ratio over 3 and after that you need get that 45 points while playing as commander. And of course you need that 50 hrs altogether but you can start as commander and when round is ending you just change team if your team is loosing and you get hours to commander stats and you also get wins

I did a “search” on the renowned War Collage Ribbon just to find a ton of penitent individuals crying about how people have to be cheating to receive it!

Like some of the other knowledgeable people have pointed out, you have to first acquire the knowledge of each badge, ribbon or metal. Have a good game plan early into your virtual player and stick to it.

The War Collage Ribbon Requirements:

1.    50 hours as commander (global).
2.    A win/lose ratio of 3:1 or better (global).
3.    45 commander points in a round (after the above has been met)

Now if your like me (-=S8M=-Phoenix), trying for the WCR would be insane as I have way to many games under my belt already. Am I crying about it? Am I calling all that have it CHEATERS? No, I should have known the above before I started my career, plain and simple.

If you’re new at BF2 or starting a new nick, know the requirements and plan ahead!

------ADDED----------------------------------------------

P.S. Just wanted to add a few tips I think may help!

1.    Play only servers you know!
2.    Play with friends or people you know are strong team players!
3.    If you’re playing on a team that losses map after map, after map, you may want to think about switching team on the next map load!
4.    Don’t play on a team that has a high “Lone Wolf” or “Sniper” ratios! Look for a well balanced team that plays in squads!

Phoenix: you win an award for reopening the oldest topic on the subject of the War College Ribbon

I think we should call the award a "turdy"

BTW: the dentist who started this whole topic must have killed his old account, and started playing this one again. His SPM and K : D ratio look like Enron Stock Charts!

WCR really isn't that difficult if you have a plan from the start. I got mine before I ever got my first Good Conduct Medal. People saying you have to cheat or teamswitch to get it, obviously are one of those players who needs 1000+ wins in a row to reach the 3.0 ratio. Jealousy is no good folks.

Simple truth about the WCR is if you don't plan to get it from the start of your career, you probably won't ever get it. There are of course always exceptions, but it's easy to just ignore your W/L ratio for 1000 games, only to realize it has become an impossible goal.

Im actually going for that ribbon right now and its going really well. My win/loss ration was 1.15 when i started playin for it and 2 weeks later its 2.03 without cheating and shit like that.

To achived that goal is easy but really long

1:play always the same map (any map can do it, but you should take your favorite map)

2:play always on the same server (its gonna give you the advantage when u have to pick up a team at the beginning of a round, when u play on the same server over and over, you start remembering the good and bad players that come back playin in the server. From this, you know whos gonna win the game or not:P)

3:Have a plan and strategies, dont play like a headless chicken. Protect or attack the most important flags right at the beginning or the round, create a squad and invite poeple in your squad.

4:try to protect and help the tanks and the APCs on the battlefield, these vehicules have the advantage on the ground, as long as they are alive, you have better chance to win.

5:DONT CAMP!!!!! always move, cap flags, defend flags, destroy the commander toys , everything that can help winning go for it. If theres no medic on the ground be one, if a tank is near your spawning flag, be a AT guy.

Ive been playin like this for awhile and it works well, but expect losing rounds, its impossible to win them all. Im losing around 1 or 2 round out of 10 rounds. oh and yeah...start when your account is young, more you have losses the more its long.

SunTzu, thanks, I was simply using the “SEARCH BUTTON” when I ran across this thread. I think the award needs to have some merit and honor, as I did take the time to find a thread (Via the SB) and posted on it rather than starting a new one.

I picked this thread because it does have some good tips (strategies) for those who may be just starting out or starting out a new Nick.

________________________________________________________________________________________

I have started several new accounts to test a few theories of my own. The first one was a complete failure. I started out with a screamingly nice 10:1 W/L only to have it fall in to the low .1-1. with in a week.

The next one I did a little better, I was able to keep it to around 3.0-3.5 for about three weeks before it tanked.

Now I’m on my 3rd nick and have been able to keep it up to around 5.0-6.0 W/L ratio (and 43% into my WCR) for about the last 30 days without team switching at the end of a round.

For those just joining us here:

1.    Read and understand all the above tips, they are the biggest factors in maintaining your stats!

Here is my contribution to the tips!

2.    Have two player accounts (nicks/user names)!

Until now, Number 2 has been my secret weapon to achieve and maintaining a high W/L ratio this time around. This gaming strategy is only 30 +/- days old for me and does seem to be working, however your results may differ.

Why have two nicks?

1. Everyone has good and bad days! If you think you’re having one of those bad days, play using your back-up nick. If for some reason your luck changes, sign out and log into your primary account and continue gaming.

2. Looking for a new server to add to your favorites? Do it with your back-up nick! There is nothing worst than going into a new server that you don’t know who the players are, just to have you ass handed to you round after round!

3. Say you want to try out a new or different game strategy. Use your back up nick rather than your primary. Than if your new strategy doesn’t work out like you had hoped your not killing your W/L or your K/D ratios on your primary.

4. Have a friend come over to try out your rig or the game? Let them use your back-up account.
