Dang It!  A dolphin is a freaking ugly (but tasty) FISH!!!!  A porpoise is an intelligent, air beathing mammal!

Dolphin = Ugly
Porpoise = Flipper

I have snorkled. At Catalina two big fish swam by, just far enough away that I couldn't see what they were.
I haven't been in the water sinse.
flipper was a dolphin not a porpoise
dolphins are mammals not fish
but i guess you were talking about the dolphin fish? mahi-mahi ?

Thats actually 2 camel spiders in the first pic.

That second pic of the bite is either fake or at the very least, not a camel spider bite.  Camel spiders are not venemous.

really lots of surfing in england ?

shark fins aren't curved like that
apparently you've never heard of a bull shark...
or maybe a mako, maybe a tiger shark
they all have fins that can look like that.

as for the tail you cant tell in that pic. its barely even there to say its one or the other would be kinda silly considering you can only see a silhouette and if the shark has his tail away from the wave you simply wont see it. All Im saying if thats a dolphin thats a big freggin dolphin. it is possible though.

Here i found these.

Objects under water always appear bigger under water, we have no idea of the size of the creaure under the water but i would hazrd a guess at 12 ft. It could be a large dolphin or porpoise or a and this is what i think it. is a Pilot whale. They spend time inshore and have the same size and shape..

the fin no way belongs to a bull or a tiger, I will concede the point to a mako as the fin is similar but no mako of that size would be found that close to inshore

Being photoshoped doesnt change the debate, there was still something in the water, thats the debate. Doesnt matter if the surfer was added in after or visa versa

Wikipedia states that the photo (from 1st post) is not a fake, nor is it a shark.  Didnt you follow the link?

Yea there are two in that picture and camel spiders do not contain venom / anaesthetic.  They can reach up to 6 inches and can travel up to 10mph.  They do not eat camels and are also known as "wind spiders".

Here is a picture of one:

I'm pretty sure that is a real camel spider bite, I'll go do some research.

Here's a video:

Thats not a camel or a spider in the water its a "liars shark", Pinochio sharkius, is its latin name, look at its long stretched nose.  I thought they had nice blue water where surfers surf abroad, but that brown shit reminds me of our sea.  perhaps thats just the effect a shadow has on a surfer, as someone above mentions.  As for them spider shark things that that soldier is holding they look wicked to chuck on the barbie.  Do you catch them using real bait or immitations and what size hook do you recommend?

Oh, it's a shark allright.  The beady eyes and sloping forhead are tell - tale characteristics of these cold blooded mammals.
