You need to try sitting in the TOW at the SPETZ base on Ghost town. I got mine when stupid heli pilots would hang around our uncap and numberous jeeps, tanks, apc's, AA vehicles, would drive up to the flag accross the bridge. Just keep pumping HJ-8's into them and its usually 1 hit kills. Granted for gold i had some luck on my side. A couple of full blackhawks and a couple multi kill APC's.  GOOD LUCK!
exactly how i done it.

and let me quote an important piece of the original posters work again:

Thats the stupidest thing Ive heard.
The badge is meant to be earned by killing shit in ground defense positions

You people who get the badge through artillery are pretty sad, you don't do it for the challenge you just want a shiny e-badge?

Girlfriend, stat.
Challenge? 20 kills with a TOW missile, good luck with that son.
Hey, if it were easy everyone would have one This is one of those badges, that you need maybe as much, or more, luck/fortunate circumstances than skill to win legit.

I got all of my expert combat badges in a jet, am I a padder because I own in a jet? OH NO!! RESET MI STATS!
No, but since you were silly enough to say this in the open you might:

Call me a padder, whatever. It wont hurt my feelings. I got my expert pistol and knife legitly, I killed the 18 people or whatever IAR. It was on a K/P server but i killed them.
LOL Legitly? K&P servers are not legit dude

Anyway, if any of you guys don't care about getting a specific badge legit that's fine but it's lame as hell to criticise someone else who does want to earn them the way it was intended; you may not like the term padding being used for this but come on, it is a form of it.

I got veteran sniper one time and veteran spec. ops as commander, plus maybe veteran medic combat, and I have to say it made me feel cheap once I got serious about the game, especially on the sniper one as I wanted to earn it properly. I made up for it later (have four or five of them) but still, I had to deliberately not play as commander once I'd met the time requirement until I got expert for fear of maybe getting it through artie kills.

but really.. stop calling everything stat padding..

if a medic kills a support guy.. and takes his kit to throw ammo packs around.. then switches back to his medc kit.. is THAT stat padding? it amounts to the same thing..

grow up.
I don't think that is the same thing... to pick up someones kit and throw out the ammo or medpac you are actually using the kit taking the time to drop the pack, it would be padding( taking advantage of the Points system flaw) if you picked up his kit and then got points for the medpacs that he already dropped but no one had used yet.

If your getting kills for ground defense or any vehicle with out actually firing the weapons or running people over then it is padding... so many people get there combat badges that way.  It is a big flaw in the stats system,  but I don't think that they should change it now.

In my opinion when you take the command position it should be like your using a different kit,  with artillery as explosives/equipment.  You would still have the kit that you spawn with but all the kills would go under the commander and witch ever weapon/vehicle was used.  That would stop the padding by command and allow us to see who is actually commanding and who is using command to go into battle because of large discrepancy's between Arty kills and Commander kills.

I totally agree!  Since they reset people for team switching for the WCR I would not be surprised if the reset people for this too.  I would not think they should as vehicles are a big part of the game and you can get any of the combat badges in a plane even though plane skill has nothing to do with the particular kits. But again I think they should have made it so that there was no Kit kills earned for the use of a tank(some fine tuning for the back seats of a vodkit/black hawk/hmmv where you using the kit weapons but still in the vehicle).  To earn a Expert combat badge and Expert vehicle badge in one round you would need 64 kills( 40 on foot and 24 in a particular vehicle).

Veteran Ground Defense is not hard to get.

I recieved mine by playing on Karkand, on USMC.

Sit on the gun at the start of the round and mow anyone who steps out down, and same on MEC.

I have just spent four frustrating weeks attemping and finally getting the Veteran Ground Defense badge ... got lots of 7 & 8 kill rounds, but that 10 kill round just eluded me.  And, yes, I've used the map and the technique you are about to say was so "simple" for you

Of all the Veteran badges, the Veteran Ground Defense is by far the hardest to get legitimately without commander stat-padding (and this is evidenced by the low number of awards).

Getting 10 kills in a round on Ground Defense is easy.  I got my veteren and expert by "commander stat padding", but I can get 10 kills in one round on GD easily...
