That looks ok if you are planning on running bf2 with mediumish settings.  If i were you i would invest in a little better processor (maybe the 3800+).  Also, BF2 is a huge memory guzzler.   I recommend at least 1.5GB (or more).  Otherwise that looks pretty solid. :-D

get your items from newegg (assuming you are from the states) tigerdirect's customer service is terrible.

oh and, get 2gb of ram and get a real power supply that comes with the case.  The only decent case that comes with a good power supply is the Antec Sonata II (comes with an Antec 450W TruepowerII).

as excellent as the PC Power and Cooling power supply it is is completely out of his price range.  He would be fine getting a $75 power supply instead over one that is over $200

If you dropoff the power supply/case to the Antec Sonata II ($100 total) and get an Asus A8N-E I think that will be pretty close to your budget.

i agree w/ what hes getting, but if he can save up more and wait till conroe. but if u desperately need a pc now, then for ram go w/ g.skill, they are uber cheap.

i still recommend changing out the case/power supply to one that is better or else you will regret it when it fails and your parts go up in smoke.

If you only have $700....do what i did...i literally just built a new one last week.....

i got:

AMD Athlon 64 3500 processor
ASUS A8N-VM motherboard
Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT graphics card
2 GB Corsair TwinX XMS RAM
Rosewill RP500 ATX 500W power supply

and i can play everything on HIGH settings  without a problem....and i think it all came out to be around $600-$700

if your on a budget....go for something like that....i did alot of researching and comparing of prices for MONTHS!

check sites like newegg.com, pricewatch.com, tigerdirect.com, zipzoomfly.com.....i ordered from pricewatch and newegg....

lemme know if you have any other questions....but i hope that helps.....it all depends on what type of system your trying to build....me, BF2 is the only game i play, and i wanted it to play it on high settings but under a budget and be able to do everyday use too....if your lookin for a powerhouse, your goin to spend more....

Buying a $80 PSU was the worst mistake I ever did with my first box.  It is so worth it to spend the extra money on the PSU to get a quality brand that won't crap out and possibly screw up other components.

you are right ... i never had a cheapo one in a self-build (always had enermax - seems that they are the only well know make availible in switzerland) and they have always worked great. but my old P II that was bought finished (hey i was like 10 back then) fried because of the cheap PSU. So did my dad's P III dell, my neighbours no-make athlon xp, ..... . Therefore: PSU is one of the few components where make really does matter
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

be careful with RAM, it can be fickle when it doesnt want to work - check the cas latency and make sure the pinnage and mhz are all compatible with your motherboard dah dee dah dah...

well and $80 power supply should be fine, I am speaking of those that cost $50 and other.  I think that some of the best bang-forthe-buck PSUs cost about $75-$80.  Being the 500W Antec TruePowerII and the Fortron (FSP-Group) AX-500.

Looks like a solid PC there dude

If all you are doing is playing games and not much else then stick with the single core CPU. If you are looking to do more stuff (like burning DVDs while playing games) then get a dual core CPU.
Increase the processor to AMD 3500+ or 3700+
Increase the RAM to 2GB tho (more RAM is good)
And finally match the 7600GTs and SLi them. (7600GT + 7600GT)
Cost will prolly be around the $1500 but well worth it

My 2 cents

WAIT FOR THE FU***NG CONROE DAM IT

it's coming out exactly on july 24th, and it will perform 40% better then fx-60 even at lower model
the XE version can be OC'd to over 5ghz atm and the E6600 which will cost less then $220, can be OC'd over 3ghz on air

of course it will be MUCH BETTER COMP
and if you really need the computer right now, get am2 socket cuz s939 is obsolete now

i love u lol conroe can reach 3.6ghz on a tuniq tower 120... very large air cooler

be patient, conroes are really cheap ($220 beats FX60) boards are around 200 bucks, get a 7600gt, dont SLI, if u can save up get a 7900GT, great card (new revisions allows to overclock more stably) get 2X1GB G.skill ddr2 800 (cl=4) ram thats 200 dollars, WD 250 gb sata drive around 70 dollars, quality psu 90 bucks (enermax = pwnage) case 150 dollars.

all that will be around 1300 dollars

AMD 3700+, 2GB (2x1GB module) Corsair or OCZ memory.

Put down an extra $40 on this book, to save you lots of trouble and 'professional' troubleshooting expenses:

Upgrading and Repairing PCs (17th Ed.).

This series is used privately, in business, and for college coursework. Well put together, descriptive, and doesn't talk down to you.

Don't forget, you need a heatsink/fan for the processor and some thermal paste for effective heat transfer.
