I think what makes Warlord the best map is that you can get points with any kit easily.People always need health and ammo.Assets always need to be repaired thanks to Spec-Ops.And snipers, assault, and A/T always have tangos and vehicles to take out,but not without the help of a good Commander.

- Warlord..
you will find more armor whores on karkand than on warlord
in how many games have you seen tank whores shooting the cliff in front of the hotel on karkand ?
plus there are much more places to hide from tanks on warlord because there are more narrow streets and little spots where big tanks and apc's cant go.
Ive much more difficulty owning with a tank on warlord than on karkand because of the main fact that there are rpg-7's (you hate them when you are SAS).
plus you almost always get a balanced game on Warlord because the SAS team [if they are not a complete bunch of dumbass] can take the first flag pretty fast (the neutral one) and continue their way toward the insurgent hideout. most of the time sas will take a floor off the palace and it will provide a furious fight in the palace to everyone!
and at the other end, on karkand, in some games the firefight will stay between the cliff and the hotel for the whole round.
the only thing I hate on warlord is those damn gaymores that grow up without human intervention in the corridors of the palace as well as the stairs on the tv station...

"Former Karkand Addict" hmmm... have you crossed over?? I think not from your reply. Reason: Pick any map and compare it to Karkand:
Warlord: The ONLY one that comes close is Warlord, but the chokepoints are so much that for armor to get headway it needs tactic. So what did EA do? Make a dropzone for SAS to get a hold on the situation. Karkand the armor is at the front and can stand back and shoot and still get loads of points. Tanks in SF will not do that, if they do they will be sitting ducks. People on Karkand do not move...yeah you heard me.. they stand still either at the spawnpoint or snipe from the top. Karkand people lay at spawnpoints and PKM it out. SF maps you would not survive very long in that instance. The only time you see nade spamming is at the Palace.
Mass Destruction: Is it like Karkand? NO. More like SHarqi, it has two helos' and a damn good map, uses all kits. Karkand? Not one bit. Moving along.
Surge: Not even going here, nothing like Karkand. Moving on.
Ghost Town: Most snipers go here because everything but the middle flag can be capped by choppers, the choppers are the ownage in this map, again nothing like Karkand, yeah theres a slight Karkand whoreage, but it can be overcome with teamwork, there isn't any teamwork on Karkand.
Night Flight: Karkand? the only thing you can say about the sameness is its PURE infantry, Karkand isnt' pure infantry. Night Flight is the best map there is, but people are too afraid to play in the dark. More like Mashtuur.
Leviathan: Its a Maze. Nothing like Karkand, hell it takes skill to fly in the dark, unfortunatly ALL flags can be capped by the chopper. More like Mashtuur.
Devils Perch: APC Whoreage in some instances but takes ALOT of teamwork, reminds me of Wake...Nothing like Karkand.
Iron Gator: Another Wake look-a-like. Pure Infantry inside, but takes skill to get inside. No nade spamming here, no "lay-down-and-rape" either, not like Karkand.
See Karkand mixes Infantry and Armor, but they mix it wrong to where the armor takes the better hand, it takes 3 shots (90% of the people) to kill a tank and when you have two together fixing each other the only way to take them out is Derka-Derka, in which you can't really do all the time effectively (I have no problem sometimes). Just like Wake where J-10's get the uppper hand, in Karkand its the armor - I don't play in metal much, but I've witnessed to where tanks are the frontrunners and the infantry realizes how good they are and stand behind (like you are supposed to do in RL). SF you would not get away with it, SF is the true infantry rules, well except on Ghost Town. Mass Destruction brings ALL aspects (except for planes because the Rebels couldn't black market any) or warfare into play, not one kit or vehicle is stronger than the other, the purest map of them all.
EDIT: Night Flight is the ONLY PURE infantry map, let me say it again.. there is one BMP, that's it. Yeah you can attest that it has trucks, but eh....

You should drop by my fave Warlord server. Sure, there's some armour about sometimes. But most of the time there is medics doing what they are supposed to (to the point of having a full squad of medics doing nothing but reviving and supporting everyone) Oh, and they just turned FF on to avoid the claymore whoring, but it's not 100% worked out yet.TheDarkRaven wrote:
My experience is ruined, too. Claymores everywhere, medics useless, and armour overpowering.
Edit: Just stopped to think about it, and one of the biggest reasons people have a hard time with Warlord, is that a skilled player will think in three dimisions (using Hook or Zip line) where as the non-skilled will just pound/drive around. There is TONS of oppotunity for doing the specialized/unconventional in this map. (Check my stats, you'll see the Expert Grapple. Byproduct of playing so much Warlord. It's SO much fun to go Anti-tank, climb about, and 'snipe' some cars with the RPG. I say snipe, cause I've got it down to an art)

turn on night vision before entering the apache, then you will get a nice black and white night vision, thats not infrared like the real ones but still its cool !imdead wrote:

Have you played all the SF maps? Devils Perch, Leviathan and Night Flight. All the most infantry based maps in the game.Knight`UK wrote:
m8 its a great map with huge fire fights in the palace and the fight for plaza and tv station .there is also hardly any armour about and also no jets/heli plus its the closet thing bf2 has so far to a infantary only map .

it was in my sig as quote of the week last week..
Used to play sharqui alot when I was into the whole sniper thing but now that I have found both the Joys of assault and SF Warlord is by far my Favorite map. Although for a good hard fight Iron Gator becomes fun once the MEC gets a point or 2
First time I played it ( about ~ two weeks after I bought SF ) I also thought it is better then Karkand . But then gaymore boys arrived...espessially Palace & TV Station are their favourite area . By my own filings , I die from claymore on Karkand rather rare , while in SF ( I mean Warlord , as it is theme of the thread ) - every second death is claymore thrown by "sniper" at my face
Thats why Speedy decided to rid the Claymore/Mine OFF and turn them on, they have to be stragically placed now, your bad experience came from a server that doesn't know you cant mix inside flags with clays.
dam it i dont know which quote i want in my sig now .imdead wrote:
But SF is for skilled players only. IF you are just a virgin in SF you need to practice before you come on, and for the Karkand idiots, you actually need to learn to shoot a weapon.
to the other poster who said he dies from claymores every other death, learn the map and i guarantee you wont die from claymores. the only time i die from claymores is from snipers who actually uses them like how they are supposed to be used. im not talking about the snipers who just run in the palace and drop em at the stairs or in the hallway (those are so easy to get around even if you dont have a zipline or grapple hook), im talking about the snipers who hide it so well that you dont even see it. all you hear is the explosion and next thing you know you're waiting 15 sec to respawn. i dont mind dying to those cause it shows that the sniper actually took time to conceal his claymore instead of just dropping it anywhere. the only flag i think you would need a zip or a grappling hook to capture if people are whoring the clays is the tv station.
tanks overpowered?if roads are for tanks roofs are for ats, get the hook and they wont have angle to shoot u.
i dont know but the main strategy when a sniper thorws a claymore in fron of u is running straight to kill him because claymores has a time retard to be xploded

The reason why Warlord is amazing is because it caters to everyone. Armor whore? Once you learn the map, you can absolutely destroy in a tank or APC. Anti-tank? This map is a haven for anti-tank guys, with roof after roof of available hiding spots. Medic? Palace is full of dead bodies. Sniper? Big open spaces and cramped spaces for sniping and claymoring. Assault kit is great too. Support, etc. I could go on but it is fairly obvious why SF is better. Another reason is that, as bad as it is to say, SF contains less "newbies". Most people playing SF have played vanilla BF2 and know how to play well.
Also, I was happy/sad when finding out FF for mines/claymores was off on speedygameservers. I was glad the claymore whoring was reduced, but teammates can't help but running straight over any anti-tank mines that you place down. I wish you could somehow turn it off for mines and on for claymores, but that's not possible.

Nope, Its only a click of a checkmark button. It was put on because remember all the complaints about how you couldn't go into the tv station and palace? You had MerlinCat and Others running around with thier clays as their primary weapon, thats why its on, because the two most important buildings if placed right- they would not be infiltrated. Now I have complaints of them on, but its still better than it was, hell even I placed clays by the stair and by the flag, there is no way to take the tv station that way, now all you have to do is take out two PKM'ers and take the flag. And now the Palace is better as you don't have snipers running to the hallway and throwing clays and running back. Trust me..FF On is better. Now Im gonna get rid of the punish announcements....NuclearBlasted wrote:

Though think my sense of judgement is worse, because i played less SF than you? I saw Warlord, and i know what its all about. I can imagine the palace fights and easy sniper killing, but i didnt see it. I saw almost the same as Karkand, but with less medic whores and spawncamping.imdead wrote:
I hate when people come on the SF chatter and know nothing. They spend one time or one hour on a map and judge it. It takes more than one day, one week and even a month, hell it took me awhile to enjoy night maps, now they are my favorite.

I can tell you from experience that you only played a couple games, when I play Warlord there are alot of snipers - agreed, but they are so EASILY taken out that its funny, The best players are not snipers, they are the medics and assualt class in my opinion.
I never even said that, maybe you want to reread my post, or tell me what other post you copied this from. Actually, i enjoyed Warlord for being unaccessible for tanks, they dont have much space to move around, and they definitely dont cap flags.imdead wrote:
Obviously you came from Karkand because I stopped reading your post when it said "you cant cap flags with a tank" .. yeah no kidding, tanks are useless, this map and Night Flight are the only ones strict infantry, why you ask they put armor on the map then? easy, to attract the armor people, you have to place the armor just right to be effective, have I seen armor tear it up? Yes. The RPG-7 is the best weapon DICE has ever came out with, I absolutely love it. You also played on the wrong server.
Im going to continue playing Warlord till i see one of these palace battles :pimdead wrote:
One reason why the server I admin on got rid of the FF mines OFF is because of the stupid clays everywhere, you could not possibly capture the two most important buildings, now with them on its a great experience -- more tk's but still great, it takes skillful placement. Why cant i just practice in SF?imdead wrote:

Warlord is about changing your BF mindset. If you think on one level as you tend to do in 'nilla BF then you will have a hard time. If you think on multiple levels and use your hook and zipline then you will find it much easier. Spec Ops and snipers have to power to take difficult objectives such as the TV station balcony but lack the firepower to take them easily. Assult, AT (with the DAO) and engineers have the close range firepower to do building clearing but lack the zipline. This is why teams and playing as a member of a team is so important in SF; if you get the mix right you will be able to easily deal with anything you come across (including the armour).
Weird... I.Poon.be, you've played TWO whole games on one account. When you graduate to 5 let me know.
If you still don't like it then its not meant for you. Many Karkand people come on and THINK they can cap flags with armor, they can't thats why I wrote that Third paragraph you quoted me on, and your IPoon.be account says Karkand 52 hours and the next one is 15... so let me reiterate that you like Karkand, but admire that you are trying different maps. Also from experience you played either A) a crappy two rounds with bad people or B) you played a very small slot. To be fun you have to have more than 40 people, but thats just me, many people like the 16/32's.. I don't.
scroll, scroll, scroll... Anyway if you didn't find any skilled players then you were in the wrong server or like I said not a very full one (meaning above 45). Because in all the 500 hrs I've played I've only met a couple servers that were very unskilled.
Try these servers:
Speedys Warlord << most skillful Warlord Players meet here. FF is ON! No gaymores in Palace or TV Station
TomClancy
GI Joe
AddictedtoGames -- some unskilled players
FireFight Arena
And what FathomsDown said... I too tired to write.

Warlord is awesome. You can get some great teamwork going on that map...and just rake in the points. I didn't like it at first...but I play more on that map now than any other. +1 for Warlord
Warlord.Ghost Town.Iron Gator are my fav SF maps...
Having played Bf2 since xmas i recentley got in to SF (about two weeks ago) and immediatley fell in love. Warlord is fantastic, the palace battles are second to none. yes claymores are a pain but deal with it, its not the end of the world, get in a squad with a medic and use teamwork and you'll soon be enjoying a very well structured map, that can be amazingly intense. Tanks and Apcs play there role but don't have a massive effect on the game, if your getting raped spawn somewhere else or ask your self why your getting raped in the first place? probably because you have no teamwork on your side.....in short SF rules, teamwork is KING and KARKAND is DEAD long live the KING
Wow youve been right this whole thread xD. I usually play the 16/32 for points but all the servers youve listed are good but you forgot a few. Theres the FullContactWar SF server and |TOP|s new SF server OCB or something. FullContactWar has GREAT teamwork because its mandatory to be in a squad and reccomended to use voip. VERY skilled players there. |TOP|s server is also very fun and has good teamwork. Check all of them out youll like them.imdead wrote:

I personally love warlord, and i play at A2G 24/7, its pretty good, there are some noobs, but theres always some people who own too, that and i get alot of lag at other sf servers but its not laggy there. that and ff is on, so there isnt claymore wars. the worst part/best part, depending, is there are 16 reserve slots so its almost always at 48, and the reserve slots are 8 dollars. id think about doing it, but im cheap, and its easier to just keep clicking join and getting the "full server" message.
But in warlord, i usually start as AT, rpg FTW, and then when it moves to the palace i use my favorite, the medic kit. crazy reviving, nade throwing, and L85 owning spree. Awsome.
